Summary
SomeWorld of Warcraftplayers think a new Druid Wrath spell effect used in the Gilneas Reclamation questline might be a teaser for the Hero Talents coming inThe War Within. While fans can’t be sure yet, it is possibleWorld of WarcraftDruids may gain access to this lunar-themed spell in the Elune’s Chosen Hero Talent when the next expansion drops.
Hero Talents are one of themajor features coming inThe War Within,World of Warcraft’s next expansion pack. These special talent trees will be unlocked from levels 71 through 80 and will allow players to customize their class and specialization abilities with iconic powers fromWarcrafthistory. These upgrades will also reportedly change the special effects of certain spells and abilities, such as the lightning-infused attacks of the Mountain Thane Warrior.

That said, some of these new Hero Talent spell effects might already be inWorld of Warcraftright now. Patch 10.2.5, Seeds of Renewal, introduced theReclaiming Gilneas questlinewhere the Worgen ofWorld of Warcrafttake back their home. During the questline, Celestine of the Harvest and Belysra Starbreeze, a Worgen Druid and Night Elf Priestess, use Wrath to fight off the Scarlet Crusade. However, rather than the usual solar yellow spell animation, they launch blasts of lunar blue energy instead. This has led players like Ian “The Red Shirt Guy” Bates to wonder if this spell effect will be used by the Elune’s Chosen Hero Talent option for Druids.
There are a few other related lunar spell effects that were added in Patch 10.2.5 as well. In Bel’ameth, thenew Night Elf village inWorld of Warcraft, several Priestesses of the Moon, Druids, and even Delas Moonfang, the first Night Elf Paladin, can be seen kneeling while bathed in glowing lunar light.
World of WarcraftNight Elf enthusiast Saphras pointed out that these spell effects aren’t actually new. Both the lunar Wrath and meditation effects were originally used by Tyrande Whisperwind inShadowlandswhile she was still the Night Warrior. With these spell effects being used again by other characters, many think it is not a leap of logic that they might be used once more by theElune’s Chosen Hero Talent option inWorld of Warcraft.
Needless to say, many players are hoping these spell effects are indeed used in the upcoming Hero Talent system. Fans have loved the ability to customize spell effects, which is why Glyphs and the iconic Green Fire Warlock quest are so popular with the community. While players will have to wait to learn more, theirfirst glimpses of the Hero Talent system inWorld of Warcraftlook promising.
