Summary

World of Warcraftis concluding the Tyr questline in Patch 10.2, though the advertised reward of getting a new dragonriding customization is nowhere to be found. WhileDragonflightwas billed as an expansion that would prune all the bloated systems that madeShadowlandsandBattle for Azerothsuch a chore for the average player, it also introduced dragonriding as a new way to traverse the world. It didn’t take long for the community to become enamored with the feature, asWorld of Warcraftplayers still enjoy dragonridingeven in the final raid tier ofDragonflight.

Though Blizzard added plenty of new customization options over the course of the expansion, players were particularly excited for theWhite Scales dragonriding customizationthat was supposed to come in Patch 10.2. Tyr’s questline previously unlocked Gilded Armor as a reward for dragonriders in Patch 10.1.7, and with Blizzard officially announcing that White Scales would be obtained from concluding Tyr’s story, fans eagerly anticipated the weekly reset that would unlock the final stages of the questline.

However, asspotted by Wowheadand several players across social media, the questline ends by awardingWorld of Warcraftplayers the “of the Tyr’s Guard” title, an accompanying achievement bearing the same name, and nothing else. Blizzard hasn’t commented on the situation yet, but it is safe to assume that the rewards are either bugged, or there may yet be a small epilogue quest added later in Guardians of the Dream.

In addition to the White Scales customization option, the Tabard of the Tyr’s Guard is another curious omission. Though some players speculated that the tabard would only be rewarded to Paladins inWorld of Warcraft, Paladins have reported that they similarly did not receive the tabard after completing the quest. Patch 10.2.5 is already on the PTR, and while it has some curious additions, such as anewWorld of Warcraftmount type, it remains to be seen what the “Dragon Isles Epilogues” will entail.

Blizzard is slowly paving the way for dragonriding to become a trueevergreen feature inThe War Within, as regular flying mounts will be getting dragonriding support in the newWorld of Warcraftexpansion, re-branded as Dynamic Flight. Given thatThe War Withinwon’t be released until Fall 2024, Blizzard has ample time to add the White Scales dragonriding customization until the developers move on from the Dragon Isles. Hopefully,World of Warcraftplayers will receive the missing rewards in full sooner rather than later.
