Having a great point guard inNBA 2K24is as close to mandatory as it gets. Very few successful teams have a primary ball handler with below-average talents. Being able to shoot, pass, and play defense in the spot makes the point guard a close equivalent to the importance of a quarterback in football.

Thankfully,NBA 2K24seems well aware that fans are in a golden age of point guards. Demands for the position have increased but the talent has stepped up. Some of the game’s best overall players are at the position since the spot has such demanding skill requirements.
10Chris Paul - 87
Chris Paul is on all-time lists for both assists and steals so nobody needs to defend his effectiveness as a point guard. This is a proven fact. Interestingly, he was moved from the Suns to the Warriors during the offseason as the Warriors have Curry and Thompson as the guards.
However, Golden State has had health issues for their staters and elite guards are part of the team’s success. Having Paul to sub in or start when issues hit means the Warriors will never be wanting for better play from their point guards.
9Jrue Holiday - 88
The Bucks were the top-seeded team in the Eastern Conference and while casual fans might give all the credit to Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday’s resurgence deserves equal credit. After making one All-Star appearance in 2013, Holiday got his second one in 2023.
Anybody wholoves sports games in VRknows the difficulty of seeing the entire court and this is what makes Holiday so dangerous. His scoring is consistent and he has only improved since winning the championship in the 2021 season.
8De’Aaron Fox - 89
Behind his first All-Star nod, De’Aaron Fox led the Kings to their first playoff appearance since 2006, the longest drought in NBA history. This was the first year the NBA issued a Clutch Player of the Year award and Fox was the clear winner with his overtime and buzzer-beater shooting.
Fox also astonishingly shot better than 50% from the field which is something usually only centers and forwards can manage. Sacramento has a lot to look forward to with Fox leading the show.
7Trae Young - 89
The fearless point guard for the Hawks, Trae Young has been a two-time All-Star behind his tremendous ability to score for any place on the court. For many point guards in the league, this might be enough but Young took an extra step forward last year.

His passing is now even more notable than his scoring. Atlanta has been a surprisingly good team the last few years but maybe analysts need to stop being surprised. When Young is getting assists to everybody, he’s any team would be ready to roll.
6Kyrie Irving - 91
Even in his early years in the NBA, scouts recognized that Kyrie Irving may be the best dribbler in basketball history. That’s high praise but it isn’t unwarranted, his handles and his on-ball skills are unreal. He’s also got the shooting and playmaking to back up those slick moves.
Irving is in an odd situation since he’s built as an on-ball guard but was moved to Dallas this last year who already has Doncic, one of the best point guards in the league. The Mavericks may want to see both of them split time with the ball since they’re both such incredible talents.
5Ja Morant - 92
Ja Morant’s off-court antics, unfortunately, overshadowed much of what he did on the court this last season. The Grizzlies got the second seed in the ultra-competitive Western Conference behind their star point guard who was capable of explosive plays at any time.
As players look out forthe next best sports games, keep an eye on Morant to leadNBA 2K24and the current generation. Morant had half-court shots, posterizing dunks, and slick passes that had to be seen to be believed and if he can keep his act clean, Memphis may be even better this year.
4Shai Gilgeous-Alexander - 94
In the first few years in the league, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander got some pretty bad breaks. After his promising rookie season, the Clippers traded him away to the Thunder. He still progressed after learning a new system but injuries kept a cap on his potential.
After a full year of health, Gilgeous-Alexander was immediately recognized as one of the best playmakers and shooters in the league. Gamers that use Oklahoma City will find he can still splash down shots from range when usinggood mice for sports games.
3Damian Lillard - 95
As of this writing, Damian Lillard is still with the Trailblazers but that could change in an instant as he has requested to leave Portland. The Miami Heat, among other teams, are willing to trade many of their assets to acquire his services.

It’s hard to argue with their rationale. Lillard has some of the most clutch shots of the last decade so he’s ready for the playoffs. He’s also about as good at passing as he is shooting, so defenses can’t cheat to try and cut off any portion of what makes him great.
2Stephen Curry - 96
When the team is firing on all cylinders, there is still nobody better than Golden State. That dominance starts with their point guard, Stephen Curry. Barring a total disaster, Curry will go down as the greatest three-point shooter the NBA has ever seen by the time he retires.
Grab anideal controller for sports gamesand try using the Warriors on the court. His passing and dribbling are both well above the average. The fact that he can sink threes from well outside of the arc when he’s feeling good makes him a nearly impossible matchup to defend against.
1Luka Doncic - 97
When it comes topredicting cover stars for the game, Luka Doncic is the leader among point guards. He had highlight reel shots, passes, and rebounds last year and looks to be a solid superstar even while the Mavericks couldn’t get him the support he needed.
Dallas went out and got Kyrie Irving, another point guard already mentioned on this list. If the team doesn’t hit its own expectations, there is at least one position that they know not to blame. Doncic is the tallest player on this list at 6'7" and it allows him to attack opponents that other point guards would have to back down from.
