Moving Out 2was announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live, and it looks like it is setting itself up to be a welcomed upgrade to the original game. The originalMoving Outwas a smash hit for players wanting to scratch that couch co-op itch that has been left unfulfilled due to modern games generally omitting the once popular multiplayer feature. With that said, the original game was solely reliant on local multiplayer, and though it is a breath of fresh air for a game to include couch co-op, it can be frustrating for it to only feature local multiplayer and not give an option for online play.
Fortunately,Moving Out 2is improving upon the original game in just about every way, including creating the option for online multiplayer. More often than not, players are unable to be in the same room or even the same country as some of their co-op partners, socooperative games such asMoving Outare unable to be enjoyed to their full potential.Moving Out 2will fix this issue by allowing both local and online multiplayer, allowing players from around the world to work together.

What Makes Moving Out a Fun Multiplayer Experience
The entire premise ofMoving Outrevolves around friends working togetherto move a designated amount of items from point A to point B. The original game started simple by having players moving furniture from a house to a moving truck, but the levels soon became anything but easy, with unique challenges and obstacles around every corner. Some levels had players wrangling farm animals, while others required the use of conveyor belts, but every level encouraged players to work together if they wanted to move the items in a timely manner.
The best way for players to successfully navigatethe challenges ofMoving Outis to work in tandem by either coordinating the best path to move an awkwardly shaped object or synchronizing the throwing and catching of small, fragile objects from one mover to another. Though the original title can be played completely solo, the co-op adds a unique variety to the game and a sense of accomplishment when all players were able to successfully move an entire level. Even though the game is designed to be a friendly, laid-back experience, it is difficult for players not to get competitive and attempt to get a gold medal in each level by quickly and efficiently moving the items against the clock.

How Online Multiplayer Could Improve Moving Out 2
Based on the recent gameplay trailers,Moving Out 2is going to be taking the game in an even stranger directionthat includes interdimensional travel that will surely introduce some new unique challenges and moving experiences. Luckily, players will not have to face these challenges alone, as the game is still featuring up to four-player cooperative play and is also allowing for online co-op. Players who want to help each other move house will no longer have to be in the same house, as online multiplayer will makesMoving Out2’s co-op fun even more accessible to fans who may not be able to play couch co-op.
It goes without saying that online multiplayer makes it easier for players to connect and play together, which is why it was frustrating for many when the originalMoving Outdid not feature any online multiplayer. Though the game does focus on local co-op, not including online play in any capacity left many players feeling left out and unable to join in onMoving Out’s unique and chaotic fun. WithMoving Out2’s online features, solo players may be able to find groups easier and play the game to its full potential, and players who often play together online will be able to group up and partake inMoving Out 2from their respective homes.
The potential downfall to online multiplayer inMoving Out 2is the lack of physical communication and comradery that often comes with these types of games. to be most efficient, players must communicate effectively and coordinate their moves with pinpoint accuracy if they want to achieve a gold medal on each level. Though communication would be more difficult online, especially if not all players are able to talk via headsets,Moving Out 2’s silly characters and aestheticsmake messing up just as fun as succeeding. And if players want to takeMoving Out 2as seriously as other online multiplayer games, they could use the online communications to their advantage and carefully coordinate moves with precision and finesse.
Moving Out 2is expected to release on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2023.
