When Hermione was trapped in a bathroom with a Troll, Harry and Ron came to her rescue, but as first-year students, they had little chance of saving her. Eventually, Ron had the smart idea to useWingardium Leviosaon the Troll’s club, before dropping it on its head, knocking it out completely.
2Stupefy - The Stunning Spell

The Stunning Spell,Stupefy, is a quintessential combat spell, used primarily when the caster does not wish to inflict permanent pain or damage on their target. It is a spell often used by Harry and others who fight against the Dark Arts, including Ron.
While in the films, Ron is only seen using it during the battle against Death Eaters atthe Ministry of Magic, he uses it much more liberally in the books on countless occasions. WhileStupefyis not amongthe most dangerous spells inHarry Potter, it is nonetheless powerful and is capable of completely knocking someone unconscious. When multiple instances of the spell are fired at once, the target could end up in the hospital, something that happened to Professor McGonagall.
3Expecto Patronum - The Patronus Charm
Harry Taught Ron How To Summon A Patronus During DA Sessions
During the Dumbledore’s Army sessions of Ron’s fifth year, Harry attempted to teach his fellow students the highly complicated Patronus Charm. This spell has the iconicExpecto Patronusincantation and produces a guardian-like spirit, which is capable of repelling dementors.
Impressively, Ron was able to produce a fully corporeal Patronus, even if he did have a little difficulty controlling it at first. Although Ron isn’t seen usingExpecto Patronusin action, his bravery and calmness in the heat of battle would undoubtedly have allowed him to use it again, had the need arisen. In fact, bravery is one of the reasonswhy Ron’s Patronus takes on the form of a Jack Russel Terrier, a breed of dog known for its loyalty too.
4Avada Kedavra - The Killing Curse
In The Last Film, Ron Tried To Kill Nagini
Although it is not confirmed to have been the Killing Curse, it is highly likely that Ron attempted to kill Voldemort’s snake, and last Horcrux, Nagini, withAvada Kedavra. This is because, in the movies, Ron can be seen firing out a green spell at the snake, and it looks just like the Killing Curse.
It would make sense for this to be the case, as Harry had told Ron, Hermione, and Neville that Nagini must be killed beforeVoldemort himselfcould be taken down. Furthermore, the snake was attacking Ron and Hermione, giving him even more reason to see it dead. While his spell had no effect, this is likely due to the defensive magic protecting Nagini, rather than a failure on Ron’s part.
5Imperio - The Imperius Curse
Ron Uses Imperio On Bogrod After The Thief’s Downfall Breaks Harry’s Curse
Imperiois one ofthe three Unforgivable Cursesand probably the most powerful spell that Ron ever successfully cast. After Harry initially cast the Imperius Curse on one of the goblin employees at Gringotts and all looked like it would go smoothly, the party passed through the Thief’s Downfall. This enchanted waterfall not only uncovered Ron and Hermione’s disguises, but it also put a stop to Harry’s control over Bogrod.
Seeing that things would head south if the alarmed Bogrod was not brought back under the influence, Ron usedImperioon him without hesitation. Despite this being an incredibly dark feat of magic, it was unfortunately a necessary evil, as it allowed them to enter the Lestranges' vault andclaim another Horcrux, eventually leading to Voldemort’s downfall.
