Platinumfish are a type of Endemic Life inMonster Hunter Worldthat players will need to capture for certain bounties given by NPCs. These fish are fairly rare, and you’ll need to visit very specific fishing spots in the New World for a shot at finding one.
Catching a Platinumfish isn’t that hard, but finding themcan be quite a problemgiven the sheer number of fishing holes inMonster Hunter World. This guide shows exactly where you can find at least one guaranteed Platinumfish spawn.

MHW Platinumfish Locations
There are three regions where you can find Platinumfish:
You’ll know that a body of water has fish in it by looking at it. There will be a number of fish swimming around the water of a viable pool. If you’re ever confused as to where these pools and ponds might be, check the world map and look for the rippling water indicators.
The kind of fish you get will be semi-random. You can see what fish bites your line, but you won’t be ableto lure Platinumfish specifically. Keep reeling in your catches, and you’ll get one eventually. Also, be very careful not to pull your fishing line too early; otherwise, you’ll risk scaring the fish away.

TheElder’s Recess Eastern Campsitealways has a Platinumfish on the left side of the water pool if you go to theHigh Rankversion of the region. If you get to Master Rank, then you’ll get a Great Platinumfish instead. The larger fish is naturally worth more RP, but it won’t count towards any fishing bounties that specifically ask for normal Platinumfish.
Fishing inMonster Hunter Worldis as simple as getting the timing right when the fish bites your line. However, you’ll sometimes have to finish a Quick Time Event (QTE) when you end up getting a large fish. When this happens, simply mash the button that appears on-screen until the fish gets reeled in.
Platinumfish yield Platinum Scales, which are worth 60RP and 2000z a piece, making thema great side source of income. Meanwhile, a single Platinum Scale+ dropped by Great Platinumfish goes for 300RP and a whopping 20000z. Consider going fishing if you ever find yourself needing money.
