Later today, Microsoft will be holding it’s newestXbox Series Xpresentation. Details are somewhat scarce at the moment, but we do know that it will be focusing on Microsoft’s first-party games, withHalo Infiniteconfirmed to be a major part of it, as we’ll be seeing gameplay footage for the first time.
Fans everywhere still have a number of questions about the console itself though, concerning how much it will cost, the existence ofthe heavily rumored Lockhart(a supposedly less powerful version of theXbox Series X), and, possibly most important of all, the release date.

Microsoft has been very quiet about the console’s exact launch date, only saying that it is on schedule to release in time for the holiday season. Earlier in the year, it was believed thatit would release around Thanksgivingbut Microsoft insisted that the listing which stated this was an error.
However, it looks like this date may be quite accurate after all. Bloomberg tech reporter Dina Bass had an interview with Microsoft’s Chief Financial Officer Amy Hood and specifically asked her if the new console is still on track to launch for the “November holidays.” According to Bass, Hood responded with a very simple “yes.”
A November launch would make a lot of sense, but it should be noted that, while this information does come from an Microsoft representative, this isn’t an official confirmation. Microsoft even provided a statement to GameSpot saying that it hasn’t provided an official release date for the Xbox Series X.
It is entirely possible that the console could be subjected to delays as well and be pushed back to a December release instead.
While some suspect that Microsoft will finally share the release date at today’s showcase, Microsoft seems to be trying to downplay it, as it has repeatedly stated that the showcase will only be about the games.
Meanwhile, it sounds likeSony may be preparing a second showcaseof its own, following its PlayStation 5 announcement. Although nothing has been announced, rumors have been circulating that it will take place in early August. If true, this could be when Sony will finally announce the release date and price for the PS5.
TheXbox Series Xis currently scheduled to launch by the end of this year.
