Summary

WhileMarvel’s Spider-Man 2was a terrific PlayStation exclusive that deserved its game of the year nomination, no game is perfect. Fans have had their share of criticism about the Insomniac Games title, and while some of it is unwarranted or overblown, other complaints make sense. One of the issues that many players have is with the game’s costume selection. The arguments range from a hatred for original designs likeMiles Morales’ Evolved Suitto frustration over Peter Parker having too many movie suits, though the big problem players have is that some beloved outfits from the otherMarvel’s Spider-Mangames are nowhere to be seen.

Fortunately, DLC has leaked forMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, and players are hoping that it could still release in the near future. Unveiled as part of Insomniac Games’ devastating 2023 leak, it is likely that plans have shifted for this potential downloadable content, as one of the packs suggests that Carnage will face Spider-Man - a notion that seems unlikely given his presence in the Venom spin-off game. That said, theMarvel’s Spider-Man 2content focused on the villain Beetle could still end up becoming a reality, and if it does, it would be a perfect time to add some of the costumes that were left behind in the base game.

Though nothing has been said about more suits being added inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s New Game Plus update, it is certainly another possible release window for more costumes.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Has No Shortage of Great Suits to Bring Back

The Wildly Diverse Spider-Armors Could All Make a Comeback

Unfortunately,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2chose not to bring back the four Spider Armors that featured within the original game. Whether it be the original metallic armor with its hockey pad-like aesthetic, the yellow and black popped collar style design, the futuristicEnds of the Earthgear, or theSpider-Man Worldwideoutfit, these costumes are nowhere to be found. Perhaps these designs were a casualty of whatMarvel’s Spider-Man 2director Bryan Intiharhad described to IGN as suits needing to be “PS5-sized,” as the metallic textures could have looked dated in the new game. Still, with a DLC possibly on the way, it would be nice to see these four costumes make a comeback.

Scarlet Spider 2 Feels Like The Odd Costume Out

Considering that the other two Scarlet Spider outfits are present withinMarvel’s Spider-Man 2, it is a bit of a headscratcher that the second of the three outfits has missed the cut. Possibly removed because it was used by Kaine Parker and notBen Reilly, the less popular of the two clones, or because the Superior Spider-Man design ueses a similar color scheme, many would love to see this suit restored in the near future. Considering how Peter can still wear one of Miguel O’Hara’s costumes, it is odd that one of his clone’s signature attires cannot be equipped.

The Dark Suit is a Looker With Some Fun Inspirations

Seemingly inspired by the black and red stealth suit from theSpider-Man/Deadpoolcomic book series, fans of the wisecracking duo were happy to see the look featured within Insomniac’s firstMarvel’s Spider-Manproject. However, not only is it a fun nod to Peter’s time with the Merc With a Mouth, but this great-looking black and red design was gifted to Peter from Felicia Hardy.Black Cat’s level inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2was a standout moment, but it would have been even more special if Miles was rewarded with a fresh take on the Dark Suit for helping Black Cat.

The Last Stand Suit Stands Out From The Crowd

Based on a dark reality where Peter Parker became a violent anti-hero instead of maintainingSpider-Man’s no-kill rule, the Last Stand costume has been the subject of many social media posts sinceMarvel’s Spider-Man 2released, as many fans want to see it return. While it is hardly the most iconic costume for the webslinger, as it did not have a long stint in the comics, it looks great and stands out due to its leather jacket, appearing more casual than most of the costumes Marvel fans would expect to see the friendly neighborhood hero wearing.

The Vintage Comic Suit Would Make Spider-Man 2 Feel Even More Like Ultimate

Gamers have been quick to point out how muchMarvel’s Spider-Man 2resemblesUltimate Spider-Mandue to the presence of Queens and aplayable Venom, so going the extra mile to feature a cel-shaded costume would be a fun way to let nostalgic fans make the latest game feel more like the classic PS2 title. The Vintage Suit was perfect for photo mode and fans of the old school Spidey comics written by Stan Lee and drawn by Steve Ditko, as it looked like it was ripped straight from the page. Considering how good costumes with unique art styles such as theSpider-VerseNoir outfit look (theSpider-VersePeter. B suit would be yet another design worth bringing back), it would be nice to see the Vintage attire again.
