Crystal Dynamics showcased a ton of content coming toMarvel’s Avengerswhen it releases this fall, ranging from new locations like the Ant Hill, new factions like (former?) SHIELD agents andInhumans, and much more. There’s a lot to unpack, but it’s clear that the game has taken some strides forward.

During all of this, the developer did take a moment to explain its approach to skins. Seemingly based mostly on the comic book runs, there’s roughly a dozen or so skins for each character that nod to their history. After all, it wouldn’t be a properMarvel’s Avengersgame if it didn’t pull from its rich history.

Specifically, the stream showcased a couple of skins for Iron Man and Thor as examples. It’s worth mentioning that some of these are unlocked in game, it seems, by finding and decoding various items across the game world, but more will also be offered as part ofMarvel Avengers' in-game store. These skins are rather impressive, joining others like Hulk’s Joe Fixit Outfit, and includeDonald Blake Thor, Invincible Iron Man, and Original Sin Iron Man. These new skins can be seen around the 31-minute mark in the video below.

Because some may naturally be worried about the inclusion ofmicrotransactions inMarvel’s Avengers, it’s worth mentioning that these skins are optional and purely cosmetic, and it has yet to be clarified if there are skins that will be only available in the game store. Whether or not that’s the case, or if all skins that could be bought could still be unlocked in-game, remains to be seen, but it seems likely that fans will have plenty of skins in-game to keep them busy.

Furthermore, while these skins are confirmed to be part of the game’s microtransactions,Marvel’s Avengerswill also add new heroes, missions, and locations post-launch for absolutely free. In fact, the next War Table is set to discuss itsfirst post-launch addition: Ant-Man. Expect more information in the coming weeks, as the game is now less than three months from launch.

Marvel’s Avengersreleases on September 4 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X versions are also in development.
