After the launch the latestMagic: The Gatheringset,Zendikar Rising, last month, many players are spending a lot of hours drafting, playing sealed, and grinding the Standard rankings onMagic Arena. The set has been well-received so far and with most game stores still limiting in-person events the most popular way to play with the new cards is online.

Luckily,Magic Arenahas a variety of Limited events available this month with a major focus on Zendikar Rising. Since this is the first full month of Zendikar Rising (andthe new Standard rotation) it looks like the new set is stealing the spotlight and taking up basically all of the event slots. That’s been the usual formula when a new set rolls out, so it’s no big surprise.

It’s possible that some other surprise events may pop up throughout the monthas Halloween approaches, but this week seems to be locked in. Players will have their choice between three different types of Zendikar Rising draft options that offer a few different experiences depending on what the player is looking for.

Best of three matches

Ends after 5 wins or 2 losses

Draft cards using 14-card draft packs and build a 40-card deck to battle others. You’ll receive rewards based on how many wins you earn you get to keep all the cards you choose! Keep playing until you reach seven wins or three losses.

Draft against real opponents

Single game matches

Available October 16

Historical Brawl- Not quite Commander at home, but close. Build a 60-card Brawl deck with your Standard and Historic cards, then battle others.

That should be everything players need to know to jump into Arena this week and start playing some Zendikar Rising. As always, players can also jump into casual or ranked Constructed play at any time. Those matches are free and are the primary way many players try to climb the ranked Constructed ladder all the way up to the Mythic Tier. Reaching that level of play requires a ton of practice, play, and grinding; but is a great way to try and qualify for special tournament invites and prizes in the competitive card game.

Be sure to check back throughout the rest of October to see what other special events and formats pop up in the game.
