For many, the memory of the disastrous launch of the hotly-anticipatedCyberpunk 2077still hangs in the air. But with theenormous 50 GB 1.5 patch recently coming out, it’s possible that the gaming community is willing to forgive, even if they won’t necessarily forget. The new update overhauled a huge amount of the game, adding and changing and fixing an enormous list of things. While it’s looking more like CD Projekt Red’s 2020 release is finally closer to where it should have been over a year, there is some bad news for owners of lower end PCs.
According to a recent report from PC Gamer, the newCyberpunk 2077patch means that older graphics cards may be getting left in the lurch as the studio says it will no longer be supporting them. While GPUs like the Nvidia 700 series should still work with the game, CDPR now recommends that players have an Nvidia GTX 970 or AMD equivalent at the very minimum.

In terms ofCyberpunk 2077’s PC specifications, the rest seems to remain the same. It’s just the graphics card that has changed. With that in mind, the CPU, memory, and hard drive space are still as they were in 2020, so players will still need something like an i5 processor. Although the Nvidia 700 is no longer being supported, the GTX 970 is unlikely to break the bank for most PC gamers, and still has 4 GB of GDDR5 RAM which should still run the game, despite it being originally released in 2014.
While it was generally considered one of the most disappointing releases of 2020, it seems thatthe tides are turning forCyberpunk 2077. A series of significant patches have looked to quash some of the biggest game-breaking issues that were plaguing the title, as well as the usual good name of its developer. Patch 1.5 is another in a series of updates that CDPR have been diligently working on for the past year or so to undo the soiled reputation that the studio has not really been known for.
Cyberpunk 2077is a game that certainly has a lot of ambition, and some may feel that it was never going to live up to the hype. However, similar to the let-down that was 2016’sNo Man’s Sky, which many now see as an excellent release thanks to huge updates,Cyberpunkis far removed from the state that it was in when it was first release. And it really was a state back then.
