Summary
In the world ofJujutsu Kaisen, there are few sorcerers or curse users who could claim tobe as powerful as Suguru Geto. Once a Special Grade Sorcerer who could go toe to toe with the likes of Satoru Gojo during their days at Tokyo Jujutsu High, Suguru’s path took a dark turn after the death of Riko Amanai, the candidate to serve as the Star Plasma Vessel. This event, coupled with a number of other developments would set him on the journey to eradicate all non-sorcerers, viewing them as the reason behind the existence of curses.
A large reason behind Suguru’s strength inJujutsu Kaisenis his innate technique: Cursed Spirit Manipulation. Having amassed a massive collection of curses with varying levels of power, Suguru could adapt his fighting style to any situation or opponent, which is partly why he was regarded so highly by other sorcerers even when he was a student. His vast arsenal of curses grew even more once he defectedand became a curse user, making him even more of a fearsome opponent for all sorcerers who strived to prevent him from achieving his goals.

What Is Cursed Spirit Manipulation?
In essence, Cursed Spirit Manipulation allowed Suguru to capture and control all the curses that he exorcised, as long as there was some gap in strength between him and the curse itself. As opposed to simplyexorcising and eradicating curses, Suguru could defeat them in battle and collect them in small spheres, which he then consumed and stored in his body to be called upon later when necessary. Consuming the curses orally gave him complete authority over the curses, such that they would submit to his will whenever he called upon them afterward.
The act of defeating the curses in battle gave him a fair idea of their powers and limits, allowing him to assemble a vast array of curses that he could summon depending on the situation before him. Furthermore, if the curse’s grade was two levels or more below that of Suguru, he could absorb it without any conditions. He couldalso extract the cursed techniquesof curses that were semi Grade 1 or higher, but this could put an upper limit on their development once extracted, and the quality of the technique would cease to grow.

Quite a few similarities can be observed between Cursed Spirit Manipulation and the act of conjuring shikigami, with the only difference between them being the lack of any intermediary for summoning. Additionally, the strength and quality of the cursed spirit in question tends to beslightly higher than that of shikigamion average, although there are some exceptions to this. There also appears to be no limit on the number of curses that can be absorbed and tamed.
Consuming large numbers of curses appeared to have negative effects on a user’s psyche, as seen in Suguru’s case. He described the act of consuming curses in extremely unsavory terms, which may have played a part in hisdistorted view of being a jujutsu sorcerer. He viewed the role as a disgusting and thankless job, lamenting the sheer volume of cursed spirits in circulation throughout the world.

The Curses In Suguru’s Arsenal
When perceived by others, the energy of someone whouses Cursed Spirit Manipulationwas also said to be different from other jujutsu sorcerers, due to the curses they have stored within their body. In combat, he could either choose to target an opponent’s weak points with exceptionally strong curses to end fights quickly, or overwhelm with large volumes of weaker curses as and when the situation demanded it. Even during his days as a student, Suguru possessed a vast array of powerful curses at his disposal, which could be readily deployed in battle when necessary.
This was why heattained the rank of a Special Grade Sorcererwhile only a student at Tokyo Jujutsu High. Later on, after masquerading as the head of a Buddhist Temple, Suguru managed to amass even more curses when individuals who were burdened with cursed spirits sought out his help in dispelling them. He eventually released and deployed during the Night Parade of a Hundred Demons in Kyoto and Shinjuku.
Some of the curses at his disposal included a massive Rainbow Dragon, which possessed extremely hard skin and could crush targets with its jaws, or a flying curse which resembled a sting array, permitting Suguru to take to the air whenever he needed to. He also possessed curses that could aid him with tracking targets, surveillance, to work as decoys, or even capture targets when required. He also possessed a Special Grade Cursed Spirit named Tamamo-no-Mae Incarnate, an imaginary vengeful spiritbased on the figure from Japanese mythology.
One of his more notable curses, as seen during his fight against Toji Fushiguro during the Star Plasma Vessel Escort Mission was Kuchisake-Onna, an imaginary vengeful spirit based on the yokai from Japanese mythology. The spirit could create an Innate Domain which enforced a vow of non-violence until her question was answered, after which point she would manifest multiple scissors near her target to cut them if their answer was not to her liking. Lastly, Suguru could also combine all of his curses with the Maximumtechnique of Cursed Spirit Manipulation, Maximum: Uzumaki, which created a highly condensed blast of cursed energy. Suguru unleashed this technique against Yuta Okkotsu but was defeated by him and the Special Grade Cursed Spirit Rika Orimoto.
