Following actor Jeremy Renner’s snow plowing accident on New Year’s Day, his family has provided their first official statement to the media along with an update on his current health status. As of Monday evening, theHawkeyestar was reportedly in the intensive care unit, and according to media reports, he has undergone two surgeries.
Renner had a painful start to the new yearwhen he suffered serious injuries following an accident at his Nevada home. The actor, who is best known for playing the role of Clint Barton inHawkeyeand several other projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was airlifted to a hospital in Reno after being involved in a snow plow accident on Sunday. He has been admitted since, and fans have been closely following all updates related to his health.

Since the accident, Renner’s family has been mum about his health. Now, a statement released by the actor’s spokesperson (viaDeadline) reveals that Renner’s family is grateful towards the “incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families.” They were also “tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.” Apart from their gratitude, the statement also shared an update on Renner, which revealed that the actor had “suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” for which he had to undergo surgeries on January 2. “He has returned from surgery and remains in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition,” the family’s statement read.
It has been a year since Renner last donned his Hawkeye costume in the Disney Plus seriesHawkeye. He featured in the show alongsideHailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, and it seemed like his journey with the bow and arrow was over. It remains to be seen whether he will return as Hawkeye in the MCU or if Bishop will take on the mantle of the hero.
