With Harrison Ford about to don the fedora for a final adventure, fans ofLEGO Indiana Jonesseries could see a third installment. The first game came out over a dozen years ago to great success, and was very well received, with a sequel being released later to combine the original trilogy with the events ofIndiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. With a new Indiana Jones movie on the horizon, a third game and final game to complete theLEGO Indiana Jonesseries could be on the way too.

After the poor success of the last film and Harrison Ford entering his golden years, many thought they would never hear the iconic horns of the theme song again, butIndiana Jones and the Dial of Destinyis set to feature the archeologist on what is confirmed to be his final quest.Director James Mangold has denied rumors about Indiana Jones being recast via time travel, meaning this next film will truly bring Harrison Ford’s involvement with story to a close after more than 40 years of discovering important artifacts and fighting bad guys. With this bit of closure for the character, Traveller’s Tales has an opportunity to give his blocky counterpart a ride into the sunset as well.

Harrison Ford’s Last Ride and Indiana Jones' LEGO Opportunities

While Ford’s beloved portrayal is coming to a close, new media about the character is unlikely to stop anytime soon. Much like how theYoung Indiana JonesTV showcame after the series' supposed end withIndiana Jones and the Last Crusadeand brought new adventures for the archaeologist, new interpretations probably lie ahead. Whether it’s a much younger version of him, or a form fans have not yet seen, there is reason to believe there will be more stories about Indiana Jones.

There is already another game project in the works that carries the name that has long held tenure at the fictional Marshall College.Bethesda announced an Indiana Jones video gamein 2021, bringing the adventurer back into the AAA gaming scene. While very little is yet known about the project, its development opens up the possibility for moreIndiana Jonesgames in the future.

The secondLEGO Indiana Jonesgame, aptly given the subtitleThe Adventure Continues,does much the same as the first game in the franchise in terms of adapting different scenes from the games and converting them into levels where players fight villains and solve puzzles. The sequel came out in 2011 and was made to adapt different scenes from the original films, as well as includeIndiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.With all the other films accounted for, and the recent success ofLEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga,it seems the perfect opportunity for players to receive an end to theLEGOseries to go along with the end of Ford’s involvement in the films.

The beloved story of a college educator turned swashbuckling adventurer is will soon be forever changed. While fans may be saddened that they will never again seeHarrison Ford holding Indy’s whip, the character’s journey does not necessarily need to be over. A thirdLEGOgame will bring the game series up to speed with the final film, completing Ford’s version of the character’s story in both versions. While more than ten years have passed since the last installment, the games both remain well-regarded among players who, while eager to watch Dr. Jones' next adventure unfold, might enjoy playing through it themselves too.
