Honkai: Star Railis full of unmarked quests and achievements that make exploration fun. Fans have found dozens of secret achievements since the game’s launch, with some tied to dialogue options, party and combat selections, and others to actions taken during missions. Most hidden achievements are in unexpected places and end up as hilarious surprises.

But others are somber, likeThe Banality of Evil. The achievement uncovers the tragic history of Cyrille the Fool, a child used as a puppet leader and scapegoat by a power-hungry politician until her assassination. It’s also an achievement that requires at least three days to unlock, thanks to its strict time-locked stages.
Vessel Of Mediocrity (Part One)
To unlockThe Banality of Evil, players must complete all three parts ofVessel of Mediocrity. The first part is available after clearing the Trailblazer MissionLying in Rust, the 11th mission intheJarilo-VIquestlineIn The Withering Wintry Night. Trailblazers must also reach level 18 before they can unlockVessel of MediocrityPart One.
Talking to theMysterious GirlorCyrilleat the plaza to the right of the Space Anchor inBackwater Passwill unlockThe Fool’s Box, the armory box puzzle of this questline.
Solve Puzzle One
Walk out of the puzzle arena. Openthe Bountiful Treasurechest next to Cyrille. Then, talk to her to unlock the secondFool’s Boxpuzzle.
Solve Puzzle Two
Once again, walk out of the puzzle arena to claim the Bountiful Treasure next to Cyrille. After talking to her, Trailblazers must look for Sampo.
Double-Check The Location With Sampo
Talk to Sampooutside theFight ClubinBoulder Town. Progress the conversation until theGo find Cyrille back at Backwater Passobjective unlocks.Every option will lead to this objective.
Meet Sampo at the place where Cyrille was located. Talk to Sampo and exhaust the dialogue. Trailblazers will unlock the entryCyrille: An Old Diaryand finish the first part ofVessel of Mediocrityby the end of the conversation.

Vessel Of Mediocrity (Part Two)
Playersmust wait until the next daily resetto continue this questline. They must also reach Trailblaze Level 24 and completeYoung Guard, the third mission inJarilo-VI’s questlineIn The Sweltering Morning Sun.
Once the prerequisites are met, players can find theMysterious Womanor an aged-up Cyrille. She is located in a square near the southernmost Space Anchor of theSilvermane Guard Restricted Zone. Her pre-quest dialogue tree must be exhausted beforeVessel of Mediocrity (Part Two)unlocks.

Talk To Dunn
Afterward, teleport to the Space Anchor used to teleport to the Silvermane Guard Restricted Area. Turn around to face Captain Dunn and report the incident. Players must wait forone daily resetuntil Dunn sends a message asking for their presence at the same spot.
Vessel Of Mediocrity (Part Three)
Trailblazers who finishedSilent Galaxyin theJarilo-VIchapterIn The Sweltering Morning Suncan find Cyrille as the Guardian Shadow at thepeak ofEverwinter Hill. They must then talk to Cyrille until the lastFool’s Boxpuzzle is unlocked.
Solve The Puzzle
The achievementThe Banality of Evilis immediately unlocked after solving the lastFool’s Box. Players can then unlockThe Birth of Tragedyafter claiming the Precious Treasure next to Cyrille. They can leave afterward, but players who want to learn the complete truth about Cyrille can talk to her again.
Defeat Cyrille
Trailblazers can leave Cyrille to stay as a shade forever. They can also put her to rest by defeating her in battle. By doing so, she can pass on and leave a relic behind, which players can take to someoneknowledgeable about Belobog’s history.
Bring Cyrille’s Relic To Manya
Cyrille’s relic can be taken toManya. Manya is an administrator who can be found next to Serval’s shop,Neverwinter Workshop, in theAdministrative DistrictofJarilo-VI. She is also the same NPC who acceptsMisdelivered Lettersfrom mailboxes around theAdministrative Districtin exchange for credits.
Honkai: Star Railis available now for Android, iOS, and PC. A PlayStation 5 version launches in Q4 2023.
