Reddit user CamCutler17 shared a video of their cat carefully watching the screen while they play theplanet scanning minigame. The cat repeatedly climbs up and bats at the screen, touching the indicators on the planet and the scanning reticle that’s moving around. Perhaps most amusingly, it seems the cat has maintained its interest in the game over time, as the user initially shared the cat’s interest in the minigame a year ago with a different video.
Users in the comments were quick to share their amusement and praise for the cat. Several noted that their cats were also interested in the minigame, with one noting that they’ll even spend more time on it despite hating the minigame, just to please their cat. One joked that the cat was looking for “catmium” to research sitting on laps and ear scritches. The general consensus seemed to be that the cat’s participation makes the minigame better, and that many players still strongly dislike spending time scanning planets.
Of course, this is far from the first time that a cat has shown interest in a video game that their owner is playing. Cats are often triggered by the sight and sound of other cats on the screen, which led to several funny videos of cats interacting withStray. The effort put into creating a convincingly real cat in the indie game was apparently enough to convince people and pets alike, as so manycats interacted withStraythat PlayStation turned it into a challenge to raise funds for the ASPCA.
Meanwhile,Mass Effectfans are still waiting to learn more about the next entry in the series. While it’s been teased, very little aboutMass Effect 4has been revealed so far, so players don’t know what to expect. It remains to be seen if the new game will feature any modes that can draw the attention of cats like scanning, but if it happens, fellow players will likely cheer on the cat just as they are now.
