AlthoughDeltarunecurrently consists of only 2 of its anticipated 7 chapters, it is alreadymaking its way to the top of the list of all-time favorite independent RPGs. The developer ofDeltarune, Toby Fox, is renowned for the exceedingly minute features he incorporates into his games. In fact, this game contains so many tiny (but great) nuances that it is simple to overlook some of them. Like with any new game, players' attention is typically drawn to overcoming challenges and monsters to win. Unfortunately, the player misses out on a few interesting details as a result.

Given that Deltarune is a Toby Fox game, a lot of this is to be anticipated. The developer’s meticulous attention to world-building detail and the thinking that goes into some of these Easter eggs is frequently praised by fans of his work. Since there were so many of these in Undertale, devoted fans are always searching through Deltarune for more. So let’s look at 5 of Deltarune’s more mysterious, hidden aspects that most players missed in Chapter 2.
5Master Of Balance
In one of the earliestrooms of Queen’s Mansion, a pot will fall and land onto Kris' head that the player can attempt to balance all the way to the finish line.Breaking the pot results in the Swatchlings engaging the player in battle, while taking it to the finish line successfully results in a somewhat amusing scene.
However, there is an additional, well hidden interaction that can also happen in this room. If the player manages to speak to every Swatchling in the room without ever breaking the pot on Kris' head, the final one spoken to will have unique text. This secret is fascinating because it’s not only obscure, it takes a fair amount of skill to even pull off to begin with, making it one of the most involved hidden details in the game.

4Noelle In Annoying Mouse Room 2
In Annoying Mouse Room 2 in Cyber City,Noelle will normally follow Kris around and cannot be interacted with. However, if the player scares her with the mice in the room at least once, she will move over to a specific part of the room where she can be spoken to.Doing this causes an interaction exclusive to this roomin which Noelle questions why mice always attack her. The player is then presented with 3 choices: “They Like You”, “Yes” or “Unknown”.
Selecting “They Like You” will have Noelle respondthat they should just give her a lunchbox if this is the case. Selecting “Yes” has Noelle request that Kris should take their sword and act as the hero who will protect her from them, and then awkwardly comment on Kris' constant standing in silence. Selecting “Unknown” has Noelle state that Kris is the only person she knows who would say “Unknown” instead of “I Don’t Know”, followed by more silent standing. She then wonders if Kris is waiting for her to quit mumbling to herself before moving.

3Spamton Neo Aftermath Secret
Spamton Neo acts as the ShadowCrystal Boss for Chapter 2, and as such, gives a special weapon/armor piece if he is defeated violently or peacefully. Violence earns the player with the PuppetScarf, while pacifism gives them the DealMaker. The scene in which these items are obtained actually play out substantially differently if the player’s weapon/armor inventories are full after the Spamton Neo battle. This can be done by buying enough GlowWrists, MechaSabers or AutoAxes from Sweet Cap’n Cakes in Cyber Field to max out the player’s capacity. This requires a lot of money grinding to accomplish, but the results are well worth it.

Spamton’s equipment piece will be unable to go into the player’s inventory due to a lack of space, andhe gets enraged over this, claiming that Kris filled their inventory with half-priced salami just to keep him from joining. Spamton aggressively questions why Kris would do this, as they can carry like 48 items. He proceeds call Kris “not cool” for pulling this stunt and that “he’ll be in his trailer”. The “trailer” is actually a treasure chest south of the room the player is currently in, and it contains whatever reward the player earned from the Spamton Neo battle, able to be properly obtained once they actually have an empty equipment slot.
2Returning The Heart Shaped Box Of Chocolates
In the epilogue of Chapter 2, the player can go to the police station and speak to Office Undyne, receiving a Box of Heart Candy from her if they picked the “Dark World” dialogue choice. There are many things that can be done with this box. It can be given to Alphys, used in front of Alphys for unique text, Kris andSusie can eat it, just Kris can eat it, the player can do nothing with it, or what’s easily the most secretive option, return it to Sans. The process of even doing this is very obtuse. To return the box, the player must walk up to Sans, open their inventory and use it on him. This is the only time in the entire game that using an item on an NPC nets any kind of reaction whatsoever.
Upon being given the box,Sans is caught of guard by it at first, either because he thinks Kris is trying to give it to him as a gift, or he’s confused as to why Kris even has it to begin with, since Undyne was the one who bought it earlier. He eventually deduces that Kris is trying to return it for money, giving them $5 in exchange for it.

1Rudy VS. The Sink
While exploring Hometown in Chapter 1, the player can get someunique dialogue from Rudy by having the sink in his room be the first thing they check, making him think that Kris is just there to use the sink and that they should be friendlier. If the player does this exact same thing again in Chapter 2, Rudy will humorously claim that Kris “really loves that sink” and that he’s at a score of 0 while the sink has 2.
This might win the award forthe most obscure interaction in the entire game. The steps for it are extremely minor, incredibly specific, and it relies on player decisions from the previous chapter. It’s actually impressive how buried and oddly detailed it is.

Deltarune: Chapters 1 and 2are available now on Nintendo Switch and for PC via itch.io and Steam.
