What is your Hogwarts house? That’s a question that has been asked of almost anyHarry Potterfan since the first film was released in 2001, if not earlier than that among book fans. There are four houses at Hogwarts, each valuing different qualities in its students. That’s why Hogwarts has a sorting ceremony for its students.
InHarry Potter, Ravenclaw House is known for valuing intelligence, knowledge and wisdom. And it has produced some of the greatest witches and wizards in Hogwarts and wizarding history. For these students, “wit beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure.”

10Quirinus Quirrell
While being the first true villain introduced in the series, Professor Quirrell still demonstrated intelligence and cunning to get close to his ultimate goal. Quirrell appeared timid and nervous, often leading to boring lessons for the students, but he was hiding a dark secret.

He was hiding Lord Voldemort under a purple turban and drinking unicorn blood until he could find the Philosopher’s Stone (orSorcerer’s Stonein the US) for his master. While it isn’t shown in the books or films, it appears unlikely that he was always evil, but he sought greatness and that led to corruption. Still, he embodied everything Ravenclaw wanted, just in the worst way.
9Gilderoy Lockhart
Quirrell’s replacement as Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher faced similar faults to his predecessor. Gilderoy Lockhart showed some magical aptitude and was certainly intelligent, but he was also lazy, choosing only to develop certain skills. This made him an ineffective teacher, but led to his strength with memory charms.
Lockhart would seek out people who had accomplished great things, learn what they did, and then adjust their memories to make it seem like he was the accomplished wizard. Lockhart became a famous author due to these exploits. It makes the reader wonder how great of a wizard could he have been if he had applied himself properly.

8Xenophilius Lovegood
Xenophilius Lovegood used his experience and insight to investigate magic’s more quizzical side. He became the editor-in-chief ofThe Quibbler, where he would publish articles about theoretical creatures and places that had not been disproved to exist. It takes intelligence to make that kind of publication happen.
He was also an early supporter of Harry Potter, publishing Rita Skeeter’s interview with him inThe Order of the Phoenixand other articles supporting Harry whileThe Daily Prophetwas attacking him. He also explained the importance ofthe Deathly Hallowsto Harry. Unfortunately, Xenophilius did try to turn Harry over to Death Eaters, but he was a loving father trying to save his abducted daughter, who felt he had no other choice.

7Cho Chang
Cho Chang brought out the best and the worst of Ravenclaw during her time in thebooks and films. She is introduced as a fellow Quidditch player who Harry develops a crush on. She ends up dating Cedric Diggory until he is killed in the final task of the Tri-Wizard Tournament. She then dates Harry, but demonstrates jealousy of Hermione and anger at Hermione when her own friend sells out Dumbledore’s Army.

However, she is also shown to be talented at Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts spells. Cho returns to Hogwarts to take part in the Battle against Voldemort and the Death Eaters, showing that by that time, her priorities are in the right place.
6Padma Patil
She didn’t get much screen time in the films, and when she did, she was moved to Gryffindor. However, Padma Patil was identified as a Ravenclaw in the books. The twin sister of Parvati Patil only gets passing mentions untilHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, whereshe accompanies Ronto the Yule Ball.
From there, Padma joins Dumbledore’s Army and participates in the students' revolt against Professor Umbridge. She fights alongside Harry and his friends during the Battle of Hogwarts. She might be in the periphery, but Padma steps up to help the heroes.

5Sybill Trelawney
The Divination teacher at Hogwarts, Professor Trelawneyseems like a fraudat first. She seems to like predicting a student’s death by the end of each school year. But, over time, it’s discovered some of her predictions are true, and Dumbledore kept her employed because of her prophecy about Harry and Voldemort.
While Trelawney’s constat butting of heads with Hermione and death predictions for Harry make her a bit unpleasant to readers, she shows her loyalty when she starts making predictions to combat Umbridge’s reign of terror and uses her crystal balls to fight the Death Eaters in the Battle of Hogwarts.

4Garrick Ollivander
Mr. Ollivander is the primary wand maker for wizards in Great Britain, and his intellect and impact is felt throughout the franchise. He has a deep knowledge of wand lore, and popularized the technique of letting the wand choose the wizard.

Ollivander becomes a valuable ally during the final book as he explains more about the Elder Wand to Harry, Ron, and Hermione. He also makes Luna Lovegood a new wand after the pair are rescued from Malfoy Manor, and Luna uses it well during the Battle of Hogwarts.
3Rowena Ravenclaw
As the founder of the Ravenclaw house, Rowena has to be one of the best in the series despite the fact she is never seen in anyHarry Potterbooks or films. She valued students of intelligence and sorted them into her house prior to her passing when the Sorting Hat continued the tradition.
Rowena Ravenclaw still played an important role in the series, as her lost diadem was turned intoa horcrux by Voldemortand destroyed by Harry, so he could defeat the Dark Lord. Supplementary material has also credited her with coming up with Hogwarts always changing floor plan.

2Filius Flitwick
The head of Ravenclaw house in the books and the Charms professor, Filius Flitwick found waysto be impactfuleven though his appearances were few and far between. Flitwick taught the trio the levitation charm that helped defeat the mountain troll in the first book and film.
He also taught the summoning Charm that came in handy for Harry during the first task of the Tri-Wizard Tournament. Flitwick was also a dueling champion and skilled wizard who stepped up to protect the students during the Second Wizarding War.

1Luna Lovegood
Without a doubt the greatest Ravenclaw in the series, Luna Lovegood always rises to the occasion. Introduced as a loner who shares all of her father’s eccentricities, Luna joins Dumbledore’s Army when invited by Ginny. She learns a lot of magic from Harry and proves to be one of his closest allies.
Luna helps Harry and his friends reach the Ministry of Magic inOrder of the Phoenix. She comes to help Hermione, Ron, and Ginny when the Death Eaters invade the school inHalf-Blood Prince. She helps fight Snape’s evil regime inDeathly Hallows. And she returns to Hogwarts for the final battle against the Death Eaters. Through every action, Luna shows her loyalty and friendship to Harry and his friends.
