Over the years, theHaloseries has included many intense battles featuring the Master Chief. Throughout the series, Spartan 117 has faced numerous alien threats. Some of these adversaries that have threatened the safety of humanity include the Covenant, the Banished, andthe terrifying Flood outbreak. Recently, one talented fan decided to create an original skirmish between the Master Chief and the Banished.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as sock-bread shared a short film they recently made based on theHaloseries. However, this was no ordinary video, as the creator decided to make it using stop-motion. The roughly 4-minute movie featured a miniature model of the Master Chief as he battled Elites, Grunts, and Brutes. The action was stunningly choreographed, showing Chief taking out Banished forces with some impressive maneuvers. Little did he know this was just the beginning of the battle.

After defeating these enemies with relative ease, the Spartan faced a much more daunting task as he was then pitted against what sock-bread described as a “Banished Prototype.” Thehulking enemy that resembled a Hunter, albeit with better armor and weapons, was much more challenging. As a result, Master Chief used a version of the mech armor seen inHalo Legends, a collection of short films, to fight the intimidating alien. After a protracted fight, he eventually defeated the prototype enemy.

In addition to sharing the short film on Reddit, sock_bread shared some details about making the video. According to the creator, they had taught themselves how to animate. However, they noted that a storyboarding class helped them fine-tune their craft. While most parts of thisHaloshort film were created with practical effects, they did use computer enhancements for things like sparks, removing the rigs used for animating and adding some alien blood. When all was said and done, the creator estimated that it took roughly 120 hours to animate the characters and objects in the film.

Unsurprisingly, this incredible short film featuring the Master Chief piqued the interest of numerousmembers of theHalocommunityon Reddit. With an astounding 48K upvotes in less than a day, an overwhelming majority of fans loved the stop-motion look. In addition, some commented that the action translated very well, noting that it felt weighty.

While it is hard to top this short film, many other fans have created impressive artwork based on theHaloseries. Recently, another gamer finished adiorama featuring the Master Chiefon Zeta Halo as he reinforced Marines in combat against the Banished. It will be interesting to see what creations passionate fans share with the community in the coming days. Perhaps sock_bread will decide to make another short film based on theHaloseries, as the response to this one has been amazing.
