A newGenshin Impactleak has revealed the original concept art for one of the most popular characters in the game, Lady Furina, also known as Focalors and the Hydro Archon. Furina made her first in-game appearance during Version 4.0, which introduced the long-awaited region known as Fontaine.
Furina joined the live servers withGenshin Impactupdate 4.2, and she is yet to be featured on a re-run banner. While many fans consider her the best character in the game story-wise, recent leaks have apparently revealed that Furina could’ve had a completely different appearance compared to her current model.
A Twitter account dedicated toGenshin Impact’s famous Fontaine Archon Furinacalled archonfontaine has shared an interestingconcept artthat shows one of the character’s original looks. This leak was later reposted by hxg_diluc, one of the most popularGenshin Impactleakers in the community, which gives more credibility to the leaked images. According to the leak, Furina’s original concept featured a much more graceful model, including more details on the clothing and a more complex weapon design. While both the original and current looks prominently feature blue and white, Furina’s palette in the concept art includes much brighter shades.
Genshin Impact Leak Shows Furina’s Original Model
Many fans were surprised that the previous version of Furina seemed to be holding a staff instead of her current sword, which led many players to believe that some of the upcoming characters might finally include a mage staff as their main weapon. Some fans have pointed out that the overall color theme in the concept art is reminiscent of another popular Fontaine character, theHydro Dragon Neuvillette.
Some comments have also pointed out that the concept art looks more like a boss fight phase, rather than a model for a playable character. This could mean that Furina was originally meant to have a boss fight, which would not come as a huge surprise considering that her Archon colleague,Genshin Impact’s Raiden Shogun, appears as a weekly boss in the Grand Narukami Shrine. While some fans claim that they prefer the concept art, the majority seem to agree that her current design perfectly fitsGenshin Impact’s character design.
However, there is still a chance that HoYoverse will use their original art to create a similar character in the future for one of their many titles.
