The secondOverwatch 2beta has come and gone, and now fans of Blizzard’s hero-shooter are eagerly awaiting news on what’s next for the popular franchise. WhileOverwatchfans wait to learn about thenew Support heroand when the next beta will be, they can return to the original game and get their fill before it’s completely removed and replaced with its free-to-play sequel on October 4.
The originalOverwatchwill be gone on October 4, as theOverwatch 2client will be overwriting it. While they wait for that fateful day to come, fans of the originalOverwatchcan keep making memories and experiencing memorable moments in the original. One such memorable moment came about during a recent match with Reddit user SuperMageFromOW, who shared a hilarious clip of a genius Mercy play that shows one should never trust the healer.

In the clip, Echo and Brigitte manage to corner to the enemy team’sMercyon the Temple of Anubis map, notably one of the maps that won’t be carried over toOverwatch 2when the new game launches later this year. The enemy Mercy realizes she would stand no chance against Brigitte and Echo, especially in a two-on-one situation, and so she decides to emote instead. The Echo and Brigitte respond with emotes of their own, and it seems as though everyone is going to be nice to each other.
The enemy team Mercy jumps up and waves, then sits back down, and that’s when the Echo and Brigitte are blasted with an Ultimate fromDamage hero Hanzo. While the enemy Mercy acted as though she wasn’t hostile, it seems she was coordinating with her team’s Hanzo, setting Brigitte and Echo up to be taken out by his Ultimate attack. The video cuts off as soon as Hanzo’s dragons arrive, so it’s possible Brigitte and Echo got away, though it’s unclear what happened next.
TheTemple of Anubis mapwhere this clip takes place is being removed inOverwatch 2because the game is completely getting rid of 2 CP maps. This is due to complaints about the maps being generally unbalanced and frustrating, especially in Competitive settings. Replacing 2 CP is a new game mode called Push that is better-suited toOverwatch 2’s 5v5 setup, and it has so far been received well by the community.
Overwatchfans will have to wait for October 4to see if the sequel is able to serve up memorable moments like this, but for now, they can keep playing the original game.
