Fans of HBO’s fantasy seriesGame of Thronescan rejoice because it sounds like the network is eager to return to the brutal world of Westeros in the near future. HBO is reportedly developing three more prequel shows that include9 Voyages,a.k.a.Sea Snake,Flea Bottom,and10,000 Ships.
HBO’s acclaimed fantasy seriesGame of Thronescame to a fiery end in 2019 after eight epic seasons. The live-action adaptation ofGeorge R.R. Martins’s fantasy novel seriesA Song of Ice and Firewas a critical darling, winning dozens of awards, and was likely one of the most popular shows of its time. Despite the final season receiving mixed reviews,Game of Throneswill likely be remembered as one of the biggest and most influential TV dramas of the 21st century, along with other ‘golden age’ shows likeThe Sopranos,Breaking BadandMad Men.

Even thoughGame of Throneshas wrapped, HBO looks to be pursuing further projects that will bring audiences back to the cutthroat fantasy world. The network is already working on a spin-off about the rise and fall of House Targaryen in the prequelseries titledHouse of the Dragon,and now there appears to be three more projects in development, according to Deadline.
9Voyages,akaSea Snake, is the first of these other spin-offs and is being developed by Bruno Heller, the creator of the HBO seriesRomewho also helped developThe Mentaliston CBSand the DC Comics seriesGotham.Martin is also reportedly involved in the development of the series.The9 Voyagesrefers to the epic voyages made aboard the ship The Sea Snake by Lord Corlys Velaryon, a character who is alsoset to appear inHouse of the Dragon.HBO’s9 Voyagesis the only one of these three series to currently have a creative team attached, while the other two are still being explored by the network.
The second series is set in Flea Bottom, the poorest district in King’s Landing, which appeared multiple times inGame of Thrones.It’s described as “a maze-like warren of narrow streets and dark alleys filled with tanneries, brothels, and alehouses.” The third spin-off,10,000 Ships,is based on the journey made by the warrior queen Princess Nymeria from Essos to Dorne around 1,000 years before the events depicted in theA Song of Ice and Firenovels.
HBO is also apparently eyeing an adaptation of Martin’sTales of Dunk & Eggnovella and a potentialanimatedGame of Thronesseries setfor at HBO Max. WhileHouse of the Dragonis set to premiere sometime in 2022, the other shows have yet to be officially moved into production.
