A new item has been leaked forFortnite, and it is a fire extinguisher.
Leaks of in-game items, modes, and features are incredibly common for battle royale games likeFortniteandApex Legends, since the developers of these games have to test how these things will work online. Unfortunately for the developers, that means that a lot of this information is available to dataminers who know where to dig in a games code.

ReliableFortniteleaker HYPEX, who recently leaked some cosmetics and other items for thecurrently ongoingFortnitemaresevent, has revealed via Twitter that a fire extinguisher is coming to the game. The image that HYPEX shared shows that the item has a max stack size of 1, and allows the player to, as one would assume, “put that fire out!”
The tweet from HYPEX also notes that the item might possibly come toFortnite’s Creative Mode. This led to many in the replies of the tweet saying that they would be surprised if it came to the Creative Mode, as they feel that developer Epic Games rarely adds content to it. But some other replies were quick to note that is because Epic isactively working on retooling Creative Modein order to make it deeper and more robust. HYPEX didn’t reveal if there were any specific uses for the fire extinguisher, so fans will have to dream up what scenarios an item like that could be useful for.
It remains to be seen if this fire extinguisher item will be able to put out the fire caused by thenegative reaction to pre-edits inFortnite. Many players dislike the way that pre-edits can be accidentally triggered in the middle of combat and can put players at risk of getting killed. Epic has acknowledged the issue and has said it is “actively considering” adding changes to the way the feature is implemented. No timetable for such changes has been set, however.
Fortnitehas been undergoing some other problems recently, like one of its best players and streamers,Turner “TFUE” Tenney, leaving the game behind. TFUE and other streamer have stopped playingFortnite, citing fatigue that some might say naturally arises with the amount of hours streamers and pro players have to put into the game.
Epic Games is also still in the midst of a heated legal battle with Apple over Epic trying to circumvent Apple’s microtransaction system for games and apps on the iPhone insideFortnite. The most recent development has been that a judge has ruled thatApple cannot ban all games that use Epic’s Unreal Engine, citing that it would impact too many other developers on iOS that have nothing to do with Epic’sFortnitemove.
