Update v24.20 added ODM Gear and Thunder Spears toFortnite, but it seems the latter just isn’t as useful as it should be in combat. When Chapter 4 Season 2 came out in early March and fans first got a look at thenewFortniteBattle Pass, it was revealed that later on in the seasonAttack on Titancosmetic items would be released. Players would be able to unlock Eren Jaeger inFortniteif they completed themed Battle Pass quests.
On April 11, the major game update that made theFortnitexAttack on Titancrossover possible became available, and just likeEpic Games had previously announced, even more content from the popular manga and anime made its way toFortnite. To celebrate the collab, gamers were delighted to know that, besides unlocking Eren Jaeger, they would also be able to purchase Levi and Mikasa Ackerman skins in the Item Shop.

Epic Gamesalso added two new Mythic weapons toFortnite’s weapon pool.Update v24.20 added the ODM Gear and Thunder Spearsfrom theAttack on Titanfranchise. Unfortunately, fans were not happy with the Thunder Spears as soon as they started trying them out in-game. It turns out that it’s pretty difficult to hit players with them, and the damage that they deal isn’t that impressive to make them worth using up an inventory slot for.
The issue is that the hitbox on the Thunder Spears is small, and therefore it requires players to be extremely accurate in order to be able to hit an opponent, even if it’s a still target. On top of this, they only deal 70 explosive damage if the target is within proximity range, and 10 damage if the spear hits the other player. It is not uncommon forFortniteitems to be removedwhen they don’t work as intended, and then make a return later on once fixed - this happened countless times with the Shockwave Hammer last season. It’s unclear if Epic is going to do that with the Thunder Spears, hwoever.
Unlike the Thunder Spears, ODM Gear, the other Mythic tool added with thisFortniteupdate, seems to be working just fine. It is quite similar to the Spider-Man Web-Shooters item - a fan-favorite piece of equipment that was removed a couple of seasons back. Both of these items are most likely going to stick around at least until the end of Season 2 as they are required in some of the Battle Pass quests to unlock Eren Jaeger’s skin.
Fortniteis available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
