The once-famous club of Everton has fallen into a few bad seasons. They’ve barely escaped relegation and have lost key players who helped them stay in the Premier League, mainly their star player, Richarlison. Everton seem to be in a downward spiral, and are one of the teams that could fall down to the EFL Championship sooner rather than later.
This may be a surprise when looking at the Everton team sheet. Everton struggles the most when it comes to finances, with players on wages that are much higher than their star rating.Managing Everton will be a challenge, as players will certainly need to sell before they can buy. The base transfer budget is a measly 1 million dollars, which means Everton will find it extremely hard to get players of Premier League quality.
4Nottingham Forest
Full of aging former stars and misfit ex-big club players, Nottingham Forest has the challenge of establishing themselves as a regular Premier League team on a shoestring budget. In fact, Forest hasa grand total of 0 dollars in their transfer budget. Players will have to attempt to sell players where they can to raise any sort of transfer money.
This is a big dilemma, as many players are declining, or have recently joined Forest. This creates a situation where the older players are worth very little, and the younger, newer players are players for the future. Managing Forest will start off rough. If players can move on the older players and buy smartly for youth talent, they can have a solid team to build on. However, getting to that promising future is a difficult task.
3Burnley
After Vincent Kompany took charge in the 22/23 season, Burnley found themselves back in the Premier League. This new-look Burnley aims to play expansive and attacking football, a brave tactic that newly promoted teams tend to avoid. Playing a style of football like that is extremely difficult for the young, below-average talent that Burnley possess.
Some of their young players, such as Luca Koleosho, Aaron Ramsey, and Zeki Amdouni, are high-potential players. However, their overall team is very much championship level. On top of this, their transfer budget is 0 dollars, which leaves their team reliant on the off chance that one of their young players could have a breakout season. Players couldcash in on the younger players and attempt to build a team capableof staying in the Premier League, although it would leave the future looking far from promising.
2Sheffield United
Most of the newly promoted teams are looking extremely vulnerable to go straight back down to the Championship, as each team has a very lackluster squad. This is no different for Sheffield United. On paper, this team’s players don’t seem too bad, but in practice, they are far from Premier League level.
Sheffield United have a transfer budget of 0 dollars to go with this very stale team, which paints a bleak picture to say the least. The only silver lining for Sheffield is that they have a few players who could be sold in order to raise transfer funds. However, Sheffield United don’t have much pull,making the challenge of luring players to Sheffield a tough one. If players can get some players in on loan, they might have a chance of not getting relegated, but that will be a difficult task.
1Luton Town
The team that shocked the world,getting promoted to the Premier League through an unlikely playoff win, Luton Town are one of the biggest underdogs the Premier League has seen in a while. With a squad starring the past-his-best, Ross Barkley and Andros Townsend fresh from football punditry, Luton’s squad doesn’t look good enough to stay in the Premier League.
It would be a miracle if players could find a way to prevent Luton from getting relegated, with a low transfer budget of 2 million dollars and a squad that has no real positives. The only bright spark that stands out for Luton is right-back Issa Kabore. However, he is only on loan from champions Manchester City, so players will be forced to look for a replacement for their second season.
