As the apparent mastermind of all Gregory’s woes at the Pizzaplex, and a dangerous foe in the path of the player’s progression through the game, it’s important for players to know the kind of threat they’re up against inFive Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach.

Since Vanny plays a large role in the story, players may find it helpful to know a little more about her. Please be aware that many of the entries on this list will featurespoilersforFive Nights at Freddy’s Security Breach, up to and including some endings.
5Gregory Can Use Vanny’s Most Unnerving Ability To His Benefit
One aspect of Vanny can be particularly unnerving when exploring the Pizzaplex. Being in proximity to Vanny causes the player’s vision to begin to glitch, with the severity of the glitching increasing as she gets closer. While this is unsettling, it also serves as a means for cunning players toidentify her distance from Gregory. This also acts as an advance warning of her approach, though players should be wary that the effect occurs even when a wall is separating her from the player.

Players familiar with theSilver EyesNovels and popular theories on the series may be interested to know that a high-pitched noise accompanies the visual glitching, implying the presence of a device similar to the illusion disks mentioned in those novels, which change the perception of those exposed to them using sound. Of course, as is tradition for the series, this is not stated outright and is just one possible explanation fans have proposed.
4Vanny Isn’t A Robot
A first for the series but, inFive Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach, one of the main antagonists is not a robot. Vanny is a human wearing a costume, similar in some regards to Springtrap/William AftonfromFive Nights at Freddy’s 3(and many of the games following the third entry). Unlike Afton, Vanny is very much alive and her costume contains no mechanical parts. This murderous mystery woman wears a rabbit costume and a mask for two reasons: To hide her identity, and as an homage to recurring villain William Afton.
Afton was the original mass murderer whose actions lead to the events of every game in the series so far. When committing the murders, Afton wore a yellow animatronic suit of the character “Bonnie.” Vanny is strongly associated with Afton in several ways discussed later in this list, explaining her decision to wear a rabbit costume similar to that of Afton.

3Vanny Only Appears At Specific Points In The Story
Despite being the main antagonist of the game, Vanny is content to avoid directly engaging the player through much of the game, only showing up in person a handful of times to menace fans. The first of these moments is when the player is inside the recharging station with Freddy at 1:00 AM, though she doesn’t begin actively hunting the player until Gregory is trapped in the Lost and Found at 2:00 AM. She then wanders the entrance area of the Pizzaplex until theplayer enters Roxy Racewayfor the first time.
Vanny will show up again while opening the doors for Glamrock Freddy in the Backstage Security room and will cause a game over if the player does not successfully open the doors for Glamrock Freddy before the timer runs out. She also appears in the main Pizzaplex after using the Showtime disk on the Sound Booth. After this, she can appear during the Dumpster Diving mission when Gregory climbs the stairs to return to the Staffbot Silo. Vanny will also appear whenever the player plays Fazer Blast, as her hideout is near the Fazer Blast attraction.

2Vanny’s True Identity Is…
Heavily implied to be Vanessa the Security Guard. As revealedduring the game’s Fire Escape Ending(and implied during the princess quest ending), Vanny is in fact Vanessa the Security Guard. This explains Gregory’s fear of her and reluctance to ask her for help throughout the game’s events, despite her status as a security guard, putting her in a position that would help him. It also explains many of her actions during the game, such as leaving Gregory alone at the Lost and Found right before Vanny appears, ordering the animatronics to search for Gregory, and leaving Freddy unable to move when she suspected he had been helping Gregory.

It also explains Vanny’s exceptionally high-security clearance, and how she was able to gain access to the animatronics, reprogramming them to capture Gregory in any way possible. Her motive, however, is a much greater mystery that can only be uncovered with some knowledge of previous games, and ties into the final entry on this list.
1Vanny Is Under The Control Of A Familiar Foe
Vanessa/Vanny is not entirely in her own right mind during the events of the game, due to the machinations of William Afton. While Afton himself was seemingly killed in the events of a previous game in the franchise (Pizzeria Simulator),his spirit and malice lived onin the surviving circuitry of the Golden Bonnie/Springtrap animatronic.
As a result, when the Fazbear Corporation used those circuits as a shortcut when programming the AI inFive Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted(a VR game which was created by the Fazbear Corporation according to the series lore), William Afton’s malicious spirit was unleashed in the form of “Glitchtrap.”

Glitchtrap was stuck in the game until he was able to download himself into the minds of some of the game’s testers, one of whom was Vanessa. Despite her best efforts to resist his influence, she falls under his control and is forced to commit several kidnappings and murders on his behalf shortly before the events ofFive Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach. This leads to her reprogramming many of the robots around the Pizzaplex to aid her in her crimes.
She also unearthed the Fazbear Pizzeria fromFive Nights at Freddy’s: Pizzeria Simulatorbeneath the Pizzaplex with their help and recovered the body of Springtrap. While it is difficult to be sure, the appearance of Springtrap in the 3-Star ending ofSecurity Breachsuggests that she rebuilt him using parts salvaged from both the Pizzeria and the Pizzaplex above it.

Five Nights At Freddy’s: Security Breachis currently available on PC, PS5, and PS4.
