Soon after they embark on this adventure, it will become obvious to the player what crests are and which cresttheypossess, if at all.Crestsare bestowed via bloodline, hence why nobles in the Fódlan territory are the ones that have crests. While they give physical and magical combat boosts, they are also an incredible source of social capital in the continent.

10Crest Of Lamine - The Aegis Dragon

The Crest of Lamine is bestowed upon the line of Lamine, one of the Ten Elites the player fights if following the Verdant Wind route. This crest is seen in Mercedes and Jeritza, and occasionally saves on uses of recovery and restoration spells.

Healers tend to be a complicated class in most games.Fire Emblem: Three Housesis no different. They are a very rewarding class if played right, and the Crest of Lamine amplifies the usefulness ofbeing the support class.

9Crest Of The Beast - The Storm Dragon

Crest of the Beast raises the might ability of the wielder of the crest when they use a weapon, so they suit martial and melee characters more than casters. However, it is a surprise to the player when the only wielder of this crest is the shy and nervous student from the house of Golden Deer, Marianne von Edmund.

What’s even more surprising is that Marianne is introduced as a caster class, and has some great healing abilities. However, the lore of the Crest is such an interesting one, and is made even more interesting when the only human who possesses the Crest is such a well-mannered and timid woman. Marianne views the crest as a curse as the player sees inher support scenes, but eventually, she sees that power and uses it for her own convictions as she comes into her own and becomes more confident.

8Crest Of Dominic - The Crusher Dragon

Caster classes benefitfrom this crest the most. This is why Annette, the sole wielder of the Crest of Dominic in the timeline where the events ofFire Emblem: Three Housestakes place.

This crest will occasionally save the use of an attack magic spell, and thus Annette is one of the best pure mages in the game. This can be huge due to the limited number of slots the caster gets for each spell, especially for the more damage heavy attack spells. It can really help in a pinch when a big bout of burst damage is needed without getting too close to any scary opponents.

7Crest Of Daphnel - The Flame Dragon

This crest is shared by two houses; House Daphnel and House Galatea. However, it is listed as the Crest of Daphnel and as such is more soassociated with House Daphnel.

Crest of Daphnel gets an edge over Crest of Seiros because it has an increased chance of raising might on combat arts, and that can really make or break a combat round. Might, as a statistic, is regarded as the most important to maximise for a physical class because it determines the impact of an attack. When combining increased might with specialist combat arts, it can be detrimental to the enemy and has a big chance to potentially end combat with one enemy unit in one round.

6Crest Of Goneril - The Kalpa Dragon

The best offense is a good defense, and while that is not the actual quote, this crest does exactly that. Having this crest favors combat arts to prevent enemies from going on players turn.

The Crest of Goneril is bestowed upon anyone born to the line of Goneril, one of the Ten Elites. It has a chance of denying counterattacks by enemies. This can sometimes be really critical as the player’s unit could be massively injured and attacking with a low HP total can be risky. This crest reduces the risk of getting hit if one has enough weapon uses to employ combat arts.

5Crest Of Gloucester - The Craft Dragon

This is one of the most efficient crests as it raises might during attacks, and, as it is already known, might is the strongest combat currency in the game.

What makes Crest of Gloucester special, however, is its use case in Lysithea, the popularly regarded powerhouse when it comes tothe mage class. Although she possesses double crests, her Major Crest of Gloucester does most of the heavy lifting and the spells that she receives greatly benefit from the chance of activating Crest of Gloucester.

4Crest Of Fraldarius - The Shield Dragon

When one isn’t playing the Azure Moon route and has the opportunity torecruit Felix Fraldariusfor their own house, there is no doubt that that individual will recruit him onto the roster. Combined with his inherent stats and the Aegis Shield, the Crest of Fraldarius makes taking him for theirselves irresistable.

He and his father, Rodrigue, are the only two units in the game that have this crest, and they’re the best units to make use of this crest too. Unlike the Crest of Gloucester, the Crest of Fraldarius has an even more increased chance to raise might when using a weapon, which makes this one of the best crests to have on martial classes and characters.

3Crest Of Blaiddyd - The Grim Dragon

The Crest of Blaiddyd is arguably the third-best sign to have in the game, and it belongs to none other thanDimitri Lambert Loog Klaus I, the future King of Faerghus.

Not only does this Crest conserve weapon uses for combat arts, but it also raises the chance of the unit attacking twice. The enemy units that are not as beefy and are only meant to be there as a prologue to the “big boss” fights are less of an annoyance to deal with as the activation of this Crest fells them rather easily.

2Crest Of Riegan - The Star Dragon

The Crest of Riegan is by far the best crest when looking through the perspective that prioritizes utility and maximising efficiency. And who better encapsulates these values than the master tactician himself,Claude von Riegan.

This Crest has an increased chance of restoring HP equivalent to a whopping 30% when expending the use of a combat art. This greatly incentivises the players to use combat arts more often and rewards them with a heal that would otherwise have taken up a whole turn where the player could’ve risked taking even more damage.

1Crest Of Flames - The Holier The Nemesis

This Crest has the best lore, and is the crest that is shared by themain hero, Byleth, the Goddess called Sothis, and the main villain of the franchise, Nemesis. Investing into this crest is a treat whether players are a “minmaxer” or a lore nerd.

In combat, it has an increased chance to heal similarly to the Crest of Riegan, and will also, on rare occasions, stop counterattacks and raise might. But, if players take a look at the lore, it possesses one of the most intriguing Crest origins ever. It is also rather serendipitous that the three pillars of this game’s story; the Goddess, the Hero, and the Villain, all possess the same Crest and have rich histories tied to it.
