When players immerse themselves into the story ofFinal Fantasy Brave Exvius, they will learn of the quest of Rain, Lasswell, and Fina in their bid to protect the great crystals of Lapis. With a lot of units available to collect in the game, players may find it a bit unnerving to consider collecting them as soon as they begin. Thankfully, thisFinal Fantasytitle has a friendlier approach to newcomers. Mainly, it offers some powerful units free of charge as soon as players start their experience.
How should players approach their initial collecting spree? Who are the most ideal starting units in the game? By the time the game offers players their free pulls, here are some of the must-have units they should score.

10Maritime Strategist Nichol
A tactician for the Olderion Federation,Maritime Strategist Nichol specializes inboosting his allies’ prowess in combat. His best slate of abilities come from his stat boosts, such as his Stances (Iron, Safeguard, Furious, Demonic, Lone, Courageous, and Fortune). He also possesses decent healing with Soulful Stance, and even high-cooldown buffs such as Enhancing, Heroic, and Barrier Stance.
When it comes to buffing in the early game, Nichol is a good choice to train. However, buffers are not extremely useful in the early game due to their specialized nature. By the time characters get further into the story, Nichol may be worthwhile before getting updates.

9Crown Prince Noctis
Next in lineto rule the Kingdom of LucisisCrown Prince Noctis, capable of summoning weapons to attack his foes.A Physical Attacker, Noctis is geared towards dealing with threats on the frontlines. He does so with decent aggro-absorption (Fish), attack delay (Warp Dodge), and elemental boosts (Protection of the Lineage - Fire/Ice/Lightning). Not only that, he also has an ally revive (Comeback), and double-casting (Double Ability) on top of his standard array of attacks.

Perhaps most impressive is Quincast III, technically a finisher that combines elements and may inflict status ailments on foes on top of decreased stats. However, similar to Cid, Noctis might be tricky to train due to his specialized nature as a finisher.
8Cid
Although he lost his family at a young age,Cidhas trained to become an amazing spear combatant. While he’s astraightforward Physical Attacker,he specializes in finishing off opponents with his kit. He’s capable of dishing out mean damage through hisdelayed-jump Dragoon attackssuch as Gale Grid, Spineshatter Dive 0+, Aerial Shot, and Downforce. Meanwhile, he’s more than capable of securing his own safety through ailment cures (Clear Blue), heals (Air Status), and enemy attack negation (Sky Dragon Squall).
Like other finishers, Cid might be tricky to gear up due to his rather independent nature. He’s more than capable of taking care of himself in combat. However, the potential stress in training Cid is a great way to train gearing up for the endgame.

7Heavenly Technician Lid
Dreaming of becomingan airship engineer,Heavenly Technician Lid is a Debuffer that specializes in debilitating the enemy team. Her Analyze gives free enemy information, and Lid can also decrease various enemy stats through her skills (Barrier Dissolver, Arms Dissolver, Magic/Mind/Guard/Attack Absorb). She can even decrease extremely specific stats (Downer Bomb Creation). Lid also has support spells to boost ally stats, such as Super Invention and Spec Guard.
An essential part of any party, Debuffers like Lid can help cope with tricky combat situations. However, players may need to invest a few weeks or so to train Lid’s abilities to become viable in the long term. While there are better Debuffers in the late game, Lid is a great starter.

6Awakened Rain
WhenRainfinally manages to tap into his Aldore heritage, he becomescapable of tapping into his magical stores in combat. In addition to his nature asa Support unit, he also triples as a Magic Tank and Magical Attacker.Rain is more than capable of protecting his allies, but also dishing out mean damage. His main defensive kit comprises damage mitigators such as Spectral Field, Energy Wall, and Standout. He also provides meaningful buffs to allies via Escort Leader and Complete Awakening.

Damage-wise, Rain isn’t bad at all, but it’s his durability that makes him the best Magic Tank in the free pulls banner. While his kit isn’t as updated compared to modern units, Rain is a decent starter for players who want a Magic Tank to rely on while waiting to pull for better options.
5Awakened Onion Knight
An orphan in the village of Ur, theAwakened Onion Knightis one of the four Warriors of Light fated to save the world from Chaos. InBrave Exvius, he’snot just a Physical Attacker, but also a decent Debuffer and Support, making him quite a balanced unit. His main supporting kit comes from Precooking, and dishing damages with specific stat boosts via his various Adept Arts. His elemental kit is a great way to diversify damage types, especially in the early game.
Players who need a damage dealer early on will greatly make use of the Awakened Onion Knight. This unit is definitely a must-keep while players farm for enough resources to pull better damage-dealers.

4Sieghard
Formerly the Veritas of the Earth,Sieghardis known for his strong admiration of his own self. Regardless, his role asboth a Physical Tank and a Debuffermake him a viablemelee option on the battlefield. He has decent aggro-absorption via I’m Gorgeous, and may immediately debuff enemies to oblivion through his various Charms (Mind, Block, Full Break). Even then, Sieghard actively punishes foes through immense damage mitigation via Beautiful Offense, Stylish Form, and even Glorious Guard.
Sieghard has decent mitigation abilities for his team as a Physical Tank, especially among the tanks players can acquire in the free rolls. While there are other more efficient Physical Tanks along the line, Sieghard is a practical first choice.

3Lotus Mage Fina
While Fina originally lost her memories after being trapped in a crystal, she slowly tapped into both her heritage and her innate capacity as a White Mage. NowLotus Mage Fina, she is not only a Healer but also a Magic Attacker and Support. Her slate of abilities allow her to provide some of thebest healingin the early game. These abilities include Blooming Lotus, Healing Petals, Prime Heal, and Eternal Light. She also has a slate of decent revives through White Lotus Dew, Reverse Hearts, and Bloom Heart.
Perhaps more interesting is how Fina can hold out on her own through combat, especially with Arch Punisher, Dystopia, and Sacred Burst. Overall, Lotus Mage Fina is a great starter hybrid class for players to check out. Her balanced kit remains a decent addition to a beginner team.

2Folka
Formerly a Veritas of the Waters,Folkahails as the first Water Priestess inBrave Exvius, maintaining a gentle heart despiteher magical prowess. She possesses agreat aptitude as a Magical Attacker on top of being a Support and Healer. Her most notable abilities lie in her resistance boost to effects thanks to Sobering Waters, Flowing Waters, and even various damage mitigates.

Despite her appearance as a starting unit, Folka is quite an efficient Healer to have on any team. Not only is she capable of providing solid healing, she can also provide immunities that can help teams survive dire situations. Although not necessarily the best Healer available, Folka is more than capable of standing on her own through the mid-game.
1Awakened Warrior Of Light
There’s always something great about the first, andthe franchise’s first heroin the form of theAwakened Warrior Of Light also happens to be one of the best Supports and Physical Tanks in the game.As a tank, he’s easily capable of mitigating damage through Guardian’s Wall Of Light, Brave Presence 2, and Light’s Healing. He also boasts powerful stat-boosters tied to attacks via Vanguard Glaive, Guard Strike, Sacred Wave, and even Protective Blade.
Arguably one of the best Physical Tanks in the game, Awakened Warrior Of Light is a must-get for new players. While he’s not as potent in terms of damage mitigation, he does compensate for massive damage. Players who don’t have access to extremely potent Physical Tanks can easily rely on Warrior Of Light for their tanking needs.
