You can use each of the Chocobos you’ve befriended inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthin races, allowing you to take advantage of their unique stats to pick the best Chocobo for each challenge.
You can improve your Chocobo’s stats by equipping specialized Chocobo gear which affects its attributes, improving its performance in Chocobo races. Chocobo gear can be equipped at a Chocoboutiques and at the Gold Saucer’s Chocobo Square. Here’s where you can find each of the available Chocobo gear pieces and full sets inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
Where to Get Chocobo Gear in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
The majority of the Chocobo gear items inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthcan be purchased fromTack Shops, located within Chocobo Ranches, once certain unlocking conditions have been met. These gear pieces are purchased using Golden Plumes, an exclusive and limited currency inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. You will earn Golden Plumes by completing Chocobo-related tasks in each region, including unlocking that region’s exclusive Chocobo and by visiting andactivating its Chocobo Stops.
Each region’s Tack Shop features a unique set of Chocobo Gear you’re able to purchase. The sets are comprised of three gear pieces: a headpiece, a chestpiece, and a set of greaves. Each piece features a specific effect that affects the equipped Chocobo’s performance in Chocobo Racing. Outside of racing, these items offer no effects and are purely cosmetic. You can mix and match these gear pieces to best equip your Chocobo for specific challenges they’ll faceinFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s Gold Saucer.
Here are the locations of all Chocobo gear items used for dressing up your Chocobo and improving its stats to win Chocobo Races inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Not every Chocobo gear piece can be purchased outright upon unlocking a Ranch’s Tack Shop. Instead, the opportunity to purchase certain items and gear sets must be unlocked bycompleting side questsand objectives, which have been detailed below.
Most Chocobo gear sets will become available at all previously visited Tack Shops after visiting the main Tack Shop where they’re sold. However, the prices stay the same at all locations, so we’ve listed only the first place where you may buy each Chocobo gear item.

Inspired by Greatness:Dramatically increases all attributes when near the 1st-place Chocobo.
Reward for 1st Place in The Coeurl Championship - Grade 3 Chocobo Race (Chapter 8).

Mimicry:Randomly replaces your current ability with a different one you possess.
Complete the side quest “Odd Job: The Hardest Sell” (Chapter 4). Quest chain starts at the Crow’s Nest in Junon.
Tropical Visor
Determination:Slightly increases speed for a few seconds after being passed.
Completethe side quest “Rendezvous”(Chapter 7). Quest chain starts at Costa del Sol Community Noticeboard.
Debonair Waistcoat
Timely Rescue:Lessen the time it takes moogles to rescue you from going out of bounds.

Final Push:Increase speed during the last lap.
Reward for 1st Place in The Alexander Siege - Grade 2 Chocobo Race (Chapter 12).

Late Bloomer:Increase speed proportionate to distance from the 1st Place Chocobo during the last lap.
Mystical Neckwrap
Victory Lap:Slightly increase speed if in 1st Place heading into the final lap.

Panel Pro:Increase the effect of dash panels.
Sprinter:Increase speed and acceleration on straightaways.
Master Drifter:Increase drift duration and speed.

Fish in Water:Reduce how much you slow down when running on water.

Roughrider:Reduce how much you slow down when you leave the track.
