Breath of the Wildmodder and content creator Waikuteru has released a trailer for the DLC expansion, titled the “Throwback Expansion DLC.” This unofficial DLC expansion comes complete with multiple star missions, with some even replicating the star missions featured in theoriginalSuper Mario 64level. The stage itself is a large recreation of Whomp’s Fortress that looks scaled to properly fit intoBreath of the Wild’s engine and gameplay style. The stage even comes with moving blocks and platforms that use elements ofBreath of the Wild’s shrines.

Though this doesn’t look to be a one-to-one recreation of Whomp’s Fortress, Waikuteru’s stage is incredibly impressive. The expansion will be released on December 25 for free to all players that wish to try out the mod for themselves, but players will have to find out how to download it for themselves. The modding community forBreath of the Wildhas done a lot of cool things in the past. Recently, oneBreath of the Wildmodfully restored Hyrule Castle to the way it was before the Great Calamity reduced it to the ruins that appear in the main game.

Though this Throwback DLC expansion is an unofficial fan made DLC,Breath of the Wildhas had two official DLC expansions so far.Breath of the Wild’s Champion’s Ballad DLCadded a new dungeon and all new story content to the game, while the Master Trials DLC before it added new gameplay features, challenges, and more.Breath of the Wildalready has a ton of content for players to explore, with over 120 shrines for players to find and complete in the vast open world. Still, players are hungry for moreZeldacontent in the style ofBreath of the Wild.

Some fans were able to get a bit moreBreath of the Wildcontent throughHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. Though,Age of Calamityis only a spin-off prequel ofBreath of the Wild, it did allow players to once again revisit the beautiful land of Hyrule that players on the Switch fell in love with. Still, the gameplay thatAge of Calamityoffers up is quite different from that of the baseBreath of the Wildexperience. Those players who are eager to return toBreath of the Wild’s world may want to give Waikuteru’s Throwback expansion a look on December 25.
