Fans of PvP shooters have a lot to look forward to withConcord, an upcomingSci-Fi-inspired release from developer Firewalk Studios. The reveal trailer introduced players to a group known as Freegunners, galaxy-patrolling guns-for-hire that find themselves battling against rival crews to complete high-stakes jobs littered across a variety of worlds. There are a variety of characters, with many of them featuring alien features and robotic augments.

Oozing with visual style and gameplay that looks likesomething out of Destiny 2,Concordlooks like a great blend between fast-paced gunplay andtactical 5v5 PvP action. Developers were intent on focusing on gameplay elements that make the game feel rewarding to play. Though Firewalk Studios promises that the gunplay will feel familiar to most shooting fans, they wanted to give greater versatility in playstyles by offering players an array of abilities like high jumps, shields, deployable walls, explosives, and more. The State of Play also included a gameplay trailer to give players a look at the in-game action.

Silent Hill 2fans were treated to a trailer for the upcoming survival Horror remake, which is set to drop in October 2024. The trailer gives a better glimpse at the over-arching story found in the modern release, as well as some gameplay elements to give fans a better idea of what to expect. Developers also released a companion gameplay video that gives a better look at the gameplay elements and combat. The long-running Monster Hunter series saw a truly expansive release withMonster Hunter: WorldandMonster Hunter Wildslooks as if it might be just as epic. AlthoughMonster Hunter Risewas captivating in its own right, many players are hopeful that Monster Hunter Wilds will be as impressive and epic asMonster Hunter: Worldwas when it was released back in 2018. The gameplay trailer announced at State of Play 2024 shows some impressive new monsters to battle, as well as unique mechanics like the ability to swap weapons quickly while in the field.

Where Winds Meet

A fast-paced Wuxia-inspired Action-adventure

Drawing heavy inspiration from oriental Wuxia fiction,Where Winds Meetis an action-adventure release from developer Everstone Studio. With a dark overtone, the gameplay looks fast-paced, utilizing quick attacks and dodges to contend with powerful foes. Now Astro is coming back in a fully-fledged adventure, with the bot traveling across worlds and engaging in some action platforming in what seems like an expansive release.

TheDynasty Warriorsfranchise makes a triumphant return inDynasty Warriors: Originson the PS5. The classic 1-versus-100s combat is back and looks more fluid than ever. This time around, the adventure seems to focus on one character, a nameless hero who is capable of wielding a variety of weapons.

A Soulslike Set In An Altering Open World

Those familiar with the Soulslike genre should find themselves immediately interested inBallad of Antara, a gritty-looking action game that promises some open-world-bending mechanics. Visceral gameplay and intense battles make this a release to keep an eye on.

Skydance’s Behemoth

A Stellar-looking VR Release

Sony managed to generate a bit of hype for its PSVR add-on thanks to the announcement trailer forSkydance’s Behemoth, a VR release from the same developers ofThe Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. The title takes place in a Fantasy-inspired world and gives players access to a variety of weaponry, including swords, bows, axes, and more, as they fight their way through enemies and giants.

One of the standout trailers at the 2024 State of Play,Infinity Nikkilooks like a strong combination of multiple genres, with some comparing it to games likeStardew Valley,Pokemon,Super Mario,Genshin Impact, and more. The reveal trailer shows the enigmatic Nikki, who changes outfits numerous times, activating a series of powers through puzzles and platforms.
