Developed by Keen Games,Enshroudedis a survival game with RPG elements. The game is set in the huge, mysterious world of Embervale, which can be explored by players as they craft items to survive and become more powerful.Enshroudedhas had a pretty good launch, with over 90,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, as expected with an early access release, it’s also filled with several bugs and performance issues.
Enshroudedreceived three small hotfixes recently. Released soon afterEnshrouded’s early acces launch, Hotfix 1 addressed server list crashes. It was followed by Hotfix 2 on the same day. The second patch fixes several random crashes and stops a minor issue in multiplayer in which players would get incorrect popup invitations to sessions. Soon after that, the Hotfix 3 was available, fixing even more crashes, including a specific one that happened in the building menu. An issue where players who had over 60 FPS had their mouse wheel not working correctly has also been fixed. According to the patch notes,Enshroudedhas also been optimized to work with AMD graphics cards and older CPUs.
It’s not yet clear when the next update forEnshroudedwill be out, but considering how quickly these hotfixes were implemented, it’s not too far-fetched to imagine more of them will be arriving shortly. Right now, Keen Games still has no official roadmap, but the team is working on it. Thefeedback page forEnshroudedshows that the team’s major priority is to fix any major issues the game currently has before implementing new features. The most asked features by players include allowing for a player-based quest progression, a weather system, and difficulty settings. Hopefully, the addition of new features can helpEnshroudedto stand out amongthe best survival games.
It seems like 2024 may be a pretty big year for survival games. January started well with the release of bothEnshroudedand theincredibly successfulPokemon-inspiredPalworld, which sold over 8 million copies in less than a week. February will see the release of Inflexion Games’Nightingaleand Ironwood Studios’Pacific Drive. Later in the year, other big releases include games like the widely expectedArk 2.
