Summary
With the premiere of season one of theEminence in Shadowanime series, fans get to see the life ofCid Kagenou, a young boy who, in his pursuit of becoming the Eminence in Shadow, has a tendency to get involved with the imaginary-turned-real Cult of Diablos. While season one of the series focuses on Shadow, Shadow Garden, and their interactions withthe Cult of Diablos, season two portrays Blood Queen Elisabeth, Lawless City, and the three monarchs of Lawless City.

These rulers of Lawless City are from different backgrounds; however, their sheer strength allows them to rule over the masses. From Yukime, the Spirit Fox, to Crimson, the Vampire, to Juggernaut, the Tyrant, these individuals each have their own plans for Lawless City, whether it be good, bad, or simply indifference. As these individuals play a central role in the Blood Moon Incident arc, their backgrounds, strengths, and schemes are important to note.
Lawless City, The City With Three Monarchs
Renowned for its lawless nature, Lawless City is set as the new setting for the second season of theEminence in Shadowanime series. The city is home to criminals and corrupt practices where the strong bully the weak. In Lawless City, without sufficient strength, individuals are condemned to die and be used as slaves, regardless of their upbringing.
For a long time, the city has operated on the principle of survival of the fittest. After an unending power struggle, three individuals rose through the battle for dominance and established themselves as the three monarchs of Lawless City. Ruling the city, these three individuals have control over certain districts and are always in competition against the other monarchs. While these individuals are from different backgrounds, one singular trait makes them similar: their strength.
Juggernaut The Tyrant
The ruler of the Black Tower has been shown to fight like a berserker. With the moniker Juggernaut the Tyrant, few can match this ruler’s brute strength. Juggernaut is a man with a tall frame. His fighting style does not include technique or finesse, but he simply overpowers his enemies with brute strength, as things like sword techniques would only slow him down.
As one of the three leaders of Lawless City, Juggernaut is a free-spirited person who does what he likes. He does not concern himself with minor issues and often leaves them up to his subordinates. While Juggernaut has large magical reserves, he relies mainly on his physical strength to fight. Relying mainly on his wild beast-like instincts and his large sword, Juggernaut practices a type of brutal and unreserved swordsmanship.
Crimson The Vampire
As the monarch of the Crimson Tower in Lawless City, Crimson is a vampire who has lived for thousands of years. He serves as one of the antagonists ofthe Red Moon Incident arc, as he is the one who schemes to revive the Blood Queen and unleash her carnage upon the world. A thousand years ago, Crimson served under the Blood Queen like Mary. He was one of the Blood Queen’s advisors and often worked in shifts alongside Mary. On the night of the blood moon, Crimson was to serve Elisabeth, and he dipped a drop of blood into her food. This caused Elizabeth to go berserk, as she had abstained from blood for so long and was under the effects of the blood moon.
Crimson is a Vampire supremacist whowants vampires to rule the world. Hating humans for killing his race to near extinction, Crimson plans to turn them into nothing more than livestock. Despite his goal to have vampires obtain world dominance, Crimson has no qualms about manipulating his own people to fulfill his desires.
Yukime The Enchantress
Known as the infamous Spirit Fox with nine tails, Yukime controls the pleasure district in Lawless City and has a legitimate business outside the city called the Snow Fox Corporation. She is the ruler of the White Tower and has enough strength to set her position as ruler of Lawless City in stone. Of the three rulers, Yukime and Juggernaut are closer in strength, while Crimson is a bit weaker than them. This shows that despite her feminine vileness, she is not to be underestimated.
Yukime is a beastkin fox, and her temperament is very different from the other rulers of Lawless City. Unlike the others, she is more of a compassionate person who has mercy on her enemies and appreciates favors.
Their Roles In The Story
The roles of the three monarchs of Lawless City differ in the narrative that theEminence in Shadowseries portrays. While Crimson serves as one of the antagonists, Yukime and Juggernaut serve as neutral individuals who have no enmity with Shadow andShadow Garden. However, Yukime thanked Shadow for helping her protect some of her girls in the pleasure district, which makes their relationship the most friendly. As the series progresses, the specific roles of the monarchs will be portrayed, and there are bound to be a few surprises along the way. From antagonist to ally to simply collateral damage, these monarchs will go on their separate paths and destinies.
