WhenElden Ringfirst released many gamers were immediately enamored with FromSoftware’s latest action-RPG. As players roamed around the Lands Between on the quest to become Elden Lord or complete one ofElden Ring’sother possible endings, some were already stating that the game should be considered for 2022’s game of the year. While the critical and public reception toElden Ringhas been phenomenal since launch, that doesn’t mean the game is completely perfect, and FromSoftware have been consistently releasing new patches for it since launch.

As with any game when it is released upon the masses, usually a few bugs and issues are to be found. The majority ofElden Ring’shotfixes and patches have been to do with fixing these bugs, or nerfing overpowered weapons and Ashes of War players are abusing in-game. However, there are also some other changes that come with eachElden Ringpatch, and the latest update 1.06 is no different in that.

Patch 1.06 has been recently revealed on Bandai Namco’s website, and will firstly change the wayWhite Mask Varre’s quest works inElden Ring. Now, gamers will no longer need to invade other player’s worlds in order to progress Varre’s quest line. Instead, a new NPC has been added to the game, and by defeating it, players can get to the next stage in the White Mask’s quest through another way. This is the only major change that is coming to an NPC quest in patch 1.06, but it should make it easier to finish Varre’s story for any player reluctant to enter the world of invasions.

Elden Ring’smultiplayeris also getting some quality of life changes, something that fans have been asking for recently. A new function has been added to send summoning signs to summoning pools in multiple areas, meaning players can summon in allies from great distances. A new function has also been added to invasions, allowing players to invade a larger area, including distant areas. If a player is summoning a co-op partner for distant areas, though, it is important to note that Mohgwyn Palace will be excluded from that summon sign.

Moreover, there have been some big changes to how Great Hammers, Curved Swords, andGreatswords work inElden Ring. Overall, these weapons appear to have been given a buff, as the time it takes for rolling to become possible after an attack has been reduced. Also, Great Axes have received a buff, as their attack speed has been increased. Some nerfs have come as well, such as a decrease to the travel distance and invincibility frames of Bloodhound Step.

Elden Ringis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
