Summary
TheMortal Kombatfranchise has played host to all kinds of characters from various media as guest fighters, but fans shouldn’t hold their breath for Ed Boon himself to ever be featured on the roster.Mortal Kombat’s roster has evolved dramatically over the years. New fighters are added to the mix in nearly every release, older fighters get significant revamps, and guest fighters join the fray as well.
As far asMortal Kombat 1goes, players can already battle it out as Omni-Man fromInvincibleandPeacemaker from the DCEU, with Homelander fromThe Boysstill in the pipeline. Leaks and rumors have suggested that futureMortal Kombat 1DLC guest fighters could potentially include Doomslayer and Harley Quinn, but nothing official to that effect has actually been announced just yet.Mortal Kombatfans love to speculate about future guest fighters for the franchise, but it seems one potential option is completely off the table.

Responding to a video of aMortal Kombat 1mod that adds an Ed Boon skin for Scorpion, Boon said, “Um…yikes.” He also revealed that there have been many times when it’s been suggested that Ed Boon become aMortal Kombatfighter, but that it is “not gonna happen.” It seems anyone holding out hope forthe creator ofMortal Kombathimselfto enter the arena is going to be left disappointed.
Ed Boon Will Not Be a Mortal Kombat Fighter
While Ed Boon may never be added toMortal Kombat 1as a DLC guest fighter, there are still other DLC characters for fans to look forward to. Omni-Man was released last November, Quan Chi was dropped in December, and Peacemaker joined the roster in February. ThenextMortal Kombat 1DLC fighter is Ermac, who is scheduled to appear on April 16 for those with early access, while everyone else has to wait until April 23. After Ermac makes his debut, there will still be two more Kombat Pack 1 DLC fighters to be added.
Mortal Kombat 1will add Homelander DLCat some point this spring, which means fans should be able to expect him to join the game by the end of June. Takeda Takahashi is expected to join theMortal Kombat 1roster this summer, so all the Kombat Pack 1 DLC fighters should be available by mid-September or thereabouts.
Rumor has it thatMortal Kombat 1has a Kombat Pack 2 up its sleeve, so it will be interesting to see if even more fighters are added to the popular fighting game. Noob Saibot, Kano, Sareena, Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, and Doomslayer are rumored for Kombat Pack 2, but the official announcement has not been made at the time of this writing.
