Since EA’s deal with Disney to use theStar Warslicense was cemented back in 2013, the company has gone on to release a number of significant tie-ins. Multiplayer behemothsStar Wars: BattlefrontandStar Wars: Battlefront 2were likely the biggest, releasing in 2015 and 2017 respectively, while the company’s most recent release was the ship-based shooterStar Wars Squadrons, which landed earlier this month.

It seems the publisher is far from done developing new entries in the coveted sci-fi universe, however, with a new job listing confirming that anotherStar Warsaction game is in development. Although there are few details about what this new game will be, EA does hint that it’s an action game, meaning it likely won’t stray too far from its current crop ofStar Warstitles.

The listing itself is for a Software Engineer based in Montreal, with the publisher looking for an experienced programmer to come work on its newest projects. Discussing theStar Warslicense specifically,EAclaims: “The team is starting immediately on an upcoming Star Wars action game and will also be building original IP.” That’s about as clear cut as a confirmation gets, although, it’s far from surprising that EA is looking to continue building on its portfolio of games based in theStar Warsuniverse.

As for what this mysterious new action game could be, a lot of signs point to the highly-anticipated follow-up toStar Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.Earlier this year, EA confirmed that the series would continue, citing thatFallen Orderwas the first in a franchiseand that players could expect to return to Respawn Entertainment’s take on the universe at some point down the road. Other rumors have claimed thatStar Wars: The Force Unleashedmight return with a third entry, with Disney insider Daniel Richtman telling his Patreon backers that the title was allegedly in development.

Of course, there’s also the likelihood that it could just be a brand newStar WarsIP altogether. Seeing as the sci-fi universe is so broad and full of areas to explore, there’s definitely a lot of scope to work on a wholly fresh action game in the series without having to return toFallen Orderor another established IP. The job listing’s second half brings another interesting nugget of truth, revealing that EA is looking to work on some wholly fresh IPs alongside this newStar Warstitle. It’ll be interesting to see what comes of the news when EA is ready to reveal it.
