Mirror’s Edgefans have been waiting for any sort of news regarding a new entry in the free running-inspired series for five years now. Following the somewhatdisappointing entry that wasMirror’s Edge Catalyst, fans have been looking forward to another entry that rivals the quality of the originalMirror’s Edgetitle from 2008.
Unfortunately, it seems that the small hope that fans were recently given by EA France has turned out to be nothing more than a misunderstanding. EA France has now put out a tweet clarifying the confusion surrounding what some fans interpreted as a teaser image, which in reality was nothing more than a “game” EA France wanted to play with followers on Twitter.

The tweet in question was posted on EA France’s official Twitter account on April 9, and showed a blurred, pixelated image ofMirror’s Edge’s main protagonist, Faith. The tweet, when translated from French to English reads, “Who recognizes this game?” While the tweet didn’t get too much engagement on social media, the replies consisted of many fans excitedly recognizing the screenshot fromMirror’s Edge. Naturally, manyfans of theMirror’s Edgeseriesvoiced their desire for EA to release another entry in the series.
However, due to the nature of the tweet EA France felt the need to clarify that the tweet was not meant to tease anything. EA France continued by adding “If we tease something one day, you will understand it right away, don’t worry!” For readers unfamiliar with the game series, the originalMirror’s Edgehas quite the cult following, despite many critics giving lukewarm reviews on the title when it first released back in 2008. Unfortunately, reviews forthe sequel title,Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, were largely similar with many stating that the game had solid platforming mechanics surrounded by generic and uninspired missions.
Still, fans of the series are dedicated and show a lot of passion forMirror’s Edgeto make a return sometime in the future. Those players withXbox Game Pass can playMirror’s Edgeto get an idea of what the free running, parkour platformer is all about. It’s certainly one of the better platformers available on Xbox Game Pass, despite going up against stiff competition such as Banjo-Kazooie, Celeste, and bothOrititles. WhileMirror’s Edgeisn’t a perfect experience by any stretch, it’s easy to see why the game has gathered a strong and dedicated cult following over the years.
Sadly, it seems that EA wasn’t teasing a sequel orMirror’s Edgeremaster with its tweet, but was simply trying to engage with the company’s followers on social media. Naturally, this is a blow to fans who were hoping the series would get some new life breathed into it in 2021. However, there’s always the chance that EA may take the fan response to the tweet to heart and bringMirror’s Edgeback in the future. For now though, it seems that fans are going to have to bide their time a bit longer.
