Black AdamandJumanji: Welcome to the Junglestar Dwayne Johnson is well-known known for his impressive physique andportraying tough action heroes. However, the wrestler-turned-actor had to put his strength to use in the real world after a power outage caused his gate to malfunction and delayed his workday.

As Johnson noted in the Instagram post recounting the incident, he experienced a power outage at his home due to the severe storms occurring in the area. Consequently, his front gate would not open when he left for the work, and his usually successful effort to override the hydraulic system failed to fix the issue. While Johnson made calls to see how soon he could get a gate technician on-site, it would take 45 minutes before a professional could show up, and the actor already had hundreds of crew members waiting for him to arrive on set so production could begin.

Taking matters into his own hands, literally, Johnson tore the gate out the wall, severing the steel hydraulics, and tossed it on the ground. Roughly an hour later, Johnson’s security team met with the gate technicians and welders at the site of the incident, allegedly in “disbelief” and “scared” about what had happened. While Johnson admitted that this was not his finest hour, he added that this event proves his now 100% to portray the titular ant-hero ofWarner Bros. and DC’sBlack Adam.

While Johnson did not name the project he was late for, it could presumably beNetflix’sRed Notice, which resumed production in mid-September after a months-long shutdown caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the upcoming action comedy film, Johnson portrays an INTERPOL agent tasked with hunting down the world’s greatest art thief.Red Noticereunites Johnson with director Rawson Marshall Thurber, whom he previously collaborated with onCentral IntelligenceandSkyscraper, and also stars Ryan Reynolds and fellow DCEU cast member Gal Gadot.

Black Adam, on the other hand, won’t begin production until 2021. The upcoming DC film will mark Johnson’s first foray into the DC Extended Universe and will introduce key heroes from the Justice Society of America to the franchise.

If nothing else, it is nice to see that contracting COVID-19 hasn’t diminished his strength. Earlier this month, the actor announcedhe and his family tested positive for the virusbut managed to make a full recovery.

Black Adamis scheduled to be released in theaters on June 24, 2025.
