A number of characters have already been revealed forDragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s roster, such as the various Goku and Vegeta forms that span across the entirety of theZandSuperanime. Several other characters, like Piccolo, Trunks, and even Mr. Satan were revealed to be a part of the game’s roster when the game was revealed at The Game Awards 2023. A new set of scans has revealed 11 new playable characters, with them being a mix of obscure faces and fan favorites.

These characters were revealed in a recent V-Jump magazine, with scans of the pages being shared on Twitter. The scans briefly outline each fighter that was added, with them being categorized into a speed or power fighter. Some of the iconic characters fromDragon Ball Z’s Saiyan Invasion and Planet Namek arcs, like Nappa, Burter, and Jeice, are confirmed to be playable. The scans also confirm characters who appeared duringDragon Ball Super’s Tournament of Power arc, such as Toppo, Kale, Hit, and even Kakunsa, as a part of the roster.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zerosplits these characters into different archetypes, with these particular characters being split into a speed or power category. Characters like Nappa and Broly are power-type characters, while Hit, Dyspo, and Burter are speed-type. According to recent rumors, there will be four categories thatDragon Ball: Sparking Zero’s characters fit under: All-Around, Power, Speed, and Technique. The most recent trailer was titled “Rivals” and it featured Goku and Vegeta, with V-Jump also dedicating a section to the duo and their appearance inSparking Zerounder the same title. Fans will likely see a trailer that focuses on the characters spotlighted in these scans.
Besides these new characters, the scans confirmed somenew gameplay mechanics forDragon Ball: Sparking Zero. There’s Super Deflection, where characters will be able to deflect super attacks like the Kamehameha if parried at the appropriate time, much like the technique from theRaging Blastgames. Another is called Vanishing Assault, which is a medium-range punch that stuns the opponent and can be followed up with another attack. Finally, there’s Revenge Counter, giving players a chance to counterattack immediately after being blown away.
