Call of Duty’s annual release schedule has been part of the franchise for more than a decade at this point, but, on top of a brand new installment each year, developers must now consider updates toCall of Duty:Warzone, the battle royale counterpart to theCall of Dutyseries first introduced in 2020. Community response to the new Pacific update seems to be relatively positive, butDr. Disrespect, one of the most notorious streamers in theCall of Dutyspace, is already frustrated with the experience.
After previously claiming that there was “no excitement or narrative left to enjoy” in the staple Verdansk map, Dr. Disrespect emphasized the need for a new map inCall of Duty: Warzone.

Though he had previously claimed that theintroduction of the new Caldera mapcould “save”Warzone, after a nearly eight-hour stream, Disrespect’s opinions were almost entirely negative, describing the map as “boring.”
Later in the stream, he sarcastically listed off reasons whyWarzone’s update “made sense” to him, criticizing the game forrequiring players to ownVanguardto play early, how the audio was making him go deaf, how Dead Silence is back, etc. Obviously, the streamer’s gripes with the game were many, some of which echo sentiments of discontent voiced by the widerCall of Dutycommunity.
The opinions of one streamer, however negative, may not seem very crucial to a game’s overall wellbeing, but, in 2021,Call of DutyYouTubers and streamers are more responsible than everfor advancing ideas and shaping opinions among followers of the franchise. In short, if Dr. Disrespect dislikesWarzone’s new content, then it’s likely that most of his audience will feel similarly. Should his grievances be ignored, Disrespect’s disdain forWarzonemay cause the player base to dip slightly, something Activision would certainly like to avoid.
Additionally, it’s worth noting thatDr. Disrespect wasn’t all that enthused byVanguard,Call of Duty’s 2021 offering. His first few sessions with the new multiplayer mode were far from positive, and his sarcastic “go, go, go, lose brain cells” clip has gone semi-viral amongCall of Dutyfans. Yet, it’s tough to get a genuine sense of what the doc actually thinks, as he often puts on a veneer of exaggerated anger when playing.
While he did suggest that he may be uninstallingWarzone, it’s more than likely that he won’t give up on theCall of Dutyfranchise entirely.Dr. Disrespect is one ofCall of Duty’s top streamers, and, though it may cause him more than a few headaches, he probably won’t be walking away from the series any time soon.
