However, tactical RPG gamers will most likely want Talents with extremely huge benefits. After all, it’s “go big or go home,” right? Thankfully,Original Sin 2shows players there’s much more to the game than being OP. In fact, players might be missing out on awesomeTalents that can spice up theirOriginal Sin 2experience. Just what are these Talents, and what can they do to a party?

Updated on Jul 10, 2025, by Rhenn Taguiam:Thanks to Baldur’s Gate 3, fans of RPGs not only have a mechanics-accurate take on D&D but also a more evolved take on Larian Studios’ previous work, Divinity: Original Sin 2. And for RPG enthusiasts who want to explore a roleplaying experience outside D&D 5e’s mechanics, Original Sin 2 may offer a simpler yet more tactical-immersive experience, courtesy of Talents that can redefine a character’s approach to combat. For newcomers to the game who want to maximize their character’s Talents, they should consider choosing perks that give instant Attribute points, transform mages into crit-masters, a constant health boost, efficient lifesteal, and extra mobility options.

DespiteDivinity: Original Sin 2gameplayoffering a similar experience as with other fantasy RPGs, its fair share of spellcasters prove they don’t always have to stay within the confines of the traditional glass cannon. Courtesy ofSavage Sortilege, spellcasters such as the Wizard and the Witch can become just as deadly as heavy-hitting physical Classes such as the Rogue.

With this Talent, spellcasters now get a critical chance with their magical Skills that is the same as their original critical chance score. This incentivizes players to create crit-reliant builds much like with stealthy characters, only this time around they can extend their crits to entire AOEs.

Bigger and Better

Vitality inDivinity: Original Sin 2gameplay pertains to the maximum Health a character possesses, making this an essential stat forweaker spellcasterswho want to outlive enemies or even for tanks who want to soak more damage. In the case of frontline melee characters who love to use Warfare Skills,Picture of Healthcan become an efficient accompanying Talent.

With Picture of Health, each point of Warfare gives 3% Vitality to the character who possesses the Talent. This can incentivize hard melee builds for vanguard-leaning Classes such as the Fighter, Inquisitor, and the Knight.

As with other RPGs, Attributes play a significant role in determining a character’s overall stats as they grow into theendgame ofDivinity: Original Sin 2gameplay. Each Attribute not only increases certain base stats but may also affect how powerful players' attacks could get (Strength, Finesse, Intelligence) but also their overall health (Constitution) and even Skills known (Memory). Players who want to capitalize on these elements early on should consider gettingBigger And Better.

Thanks to this Talent, Bigger And Better gives players another 2 Attribute Points to work with. This is a significant upgrade for characters, as 2 Attribute Points are normally acquired per level-up, making Bigger And Better work like an instant level-up without any need to invest in getting EXP.

Escapist

17Leech

Being a traditional RPG,Divinity: Original Sin 2gameplayalso offers its fair share of damage-over-time status effects based on environmental effects, with Burning (from Fire) and Poisoned (from Poison) being staple examples. However, the game offers quite a lot of DOTs that affect many aspects of a character’s performance, demanding players more careful consideration of what effects they try to pull off on the battlefield.

Leechis an example of such a consideration, where the Talent takes advantage of the Bleeding Status. The status in question is caused by multiple attack types, with the effect’s visual indication taking the form of a puddle of blood appearing beneath the affected creature. Ordinarily, stepping on blood will simply confer the Wet status on whoever’s doing the action. However, with Leech, characters stepping on blood also get healing from it.

16Escapist

WithDivinity: Original Sin 2gameplay relying heavily on turn-based combat, players need tactical prowess to navigate the game’s more complicated encounters. This becomes more apparent when melee specialists are surrounded by enemies, as trying to leave their side will prompt them to make Opportunity Attacks, much like the similarly-functioningD&Dmechanic as adapted inBaldur’s Gate 3.

In order formelee characterslike the glass cannon Rogue to avoid an early death,Escapistcan be a Talent to rely on. When equipped, Escapist will allow characters to flee combat even when enemies are next to them, disabling Opportunity Attacks. This can be a significant asset for scouts and mobile specialists, allowing them to pull off hit-and-run attacks with little to no consequence.

Characters within range of an Opportunity Attack

15Comeback Kid

Sometimes, a second chance is what a character needs to turn the tide in combat. Thanks to Comeback Kid, a character cansurvive a fatal blow and get back upwith 20 percent Health. This Talent can easily allow heavy hitters such as tank builds or even fragile stealthy Rogues to outlast opponents in tricky situations.

However, players do need to remember that Comeback Kid only works once per character’s lifetime. This means a character needs to die and get resurrected in combat before Comeback Kid kicks in again. Of course, players with more than enough Resurrect Scrolls can spam Comeback Kid against more difficult bosses.

Using a Pyrokinetic Skill

14Duck Duck Goose

When any character passes by melee range of any enemy, they become open for an Opportunity Attack. This is a free physical attack that an opponent can do to damage a character passing their field of vision. When facing melee-heavy tanks and rogues in enclosed spaces, Opportunity Attacks can become extremely fatal.

Thankfully, Duck Duck Goose gets players away from that. Unlocked when a character has Huntsman 1, Duck Duck Goose will help that character escape Opportunity Attacks. When used by a rogue, this essentially lets them chase their foe without fear of retaliation in the process. Likewise, a spellcaster orhealer can get out of a sticky situationwithout the risk of dying early due to Opportunity Attacks.

A magical Skill that damages both Magical Armour and Health

13Glass Cannon

In most combat situations, characters can either use up all their AP to do actions or skip their turn to carry over excess AP in the next round. This choice becomes crucial, as skipping a turn now can give the enemy more than enough time to reposition or dish out deadly attacks. With Glass Cannon, this “choice” becomes moot. After all, Glass Cannon gives a character their Maximum AP count every turn, allowing them to do more things.

Unfortunately, Glass Cannon does have a severe caveat. When equipped, Glass Cannon will disable protections of Physical and Magic Armour against statuses. This makes characters more prone to Charmed and other abilities that Armour can ordinarily resist. Moreover, characters who already have the Lone Wolf Talent can’t equip Glass Cannon.

12Living Armour

Aside from Health, characters can rely on both Physical and Magical Armour to protect them from various kinds of attacks. Thanks to Living Armour, players have a constant way of replenishing their defenses against magical damage.

Essentially, Living Armour bestows healing to Magical Armour whenever its equipped character receives healing. When equipped, Living Armor gives 35 percent of all healing done to its equipped character to its Magical Armour. Considering how deadly certain magical Skills can become when taken head-on, Living Armour is a great asset for both Spellcastersand characters that often need to tank magical damage.

11Guerilla

Thanks to the instant critical attacks of backstab attacks, stealth builds like Rogues and Shadowblades instantly become a danger to any enemy force. When paired with the right Scoundrel Skill, these characters can dish out huge damage numbers against multiple enemies or powerful bosses. With Guerilla, this damage output can reach exponential levels.

At its core, Guerilla gives a 40-percentboost to attacks while sneaking. Moreover, sneaking in combat now costs 3AP instead of the usual 4AP cost. This gives stealthy characters more room to maneuver and plan their attacks without detection.
