Summary
The Haunted Mansion issue that prevented someDisney Dreamlight Valleyplayers from logging into the game has now been resolved, Gameloft has confirmed. While the underlying cause of the bug has yet to be addressed, the developer rolled out an interim solution that allows allDisney Dreamlight Valleyplayersto continue enjoying the popular life sim while the work on a more exhaustive fix continues.
The recently surfaced issue stems from theEnchanted Adventure update that reachedDisney Dreamlight Valleyin mid-September. Among many other things, the latest version of the game introduced a Haunted Mansion bundle to the Premium Shop, priced at 3,750 Moonstones. The package included two House Dream Styles named after the titular residence: a base Haunted Mansion and its Before Christmas counterpart. However, players who bought the bundle and attempted to peruse its contents soon found themselves unable to log into the game due to a vague “game initialization” issue identified by error code 201.

Taking to social media, Gameloft revealed that the problem was tracked back to the Haunted Mansion skins, prompting the developer to revert all players who applied them back to their default house exteriors. This should allow anyone who encountered the dreaded 201 error to once again access the game. Gameloft also pulled the Haunted Mansion bundle fromtheDisney Dreamlight ValleyPremium Shop, although anyone who bought it will still find its contents in their inventory. Nevertheless, the developer is asking the fans not to reapply the bugged House Dream Styles for the time being.
In the meantime,Disney Dreamlight Valleyplayers who already spent thousands of Moonstones on the Haunted Mansion bundle will receive some sort of compensation in their in-game mail by the end of Tuesday, September 19. Gameloft did not provide any more details on the reimbursement, although initial player reports suggest that the recompense is being dispersed in the form of a full Moonstone refund. Anyone who bought the bugged bundle will hence be able to enjoy its contents free of charge once the underlying issue causing the 201 initialization error is fixed.
And though some fans are likely to find this to be a slim consolation for being unable to enjoy the Enhanced Adventure update during its launch week, others might experience the incident as a stroke of luck. Namely, multiple players who bought the bundle but haven’t used either of its styles tochange theirDisney Dreamlight Valleyhouse exteriorsare reporting that they also received full refunds for their purchase, even though they were able to access the game throughout this problematic period.
Disney Dreamlight Valleyis available in early access on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
