2021 was a great year for the Nintendo Switch, with Nintendo’s hybrid console celebrating four years on the market with some incredible exclusives such asMetroid Dread,Shin Megami Tensei 5,No More Heroes 3, and even some noteworthy titles that went under the radar such as NIS America’sDisgaea 6. With the game approaching a year from launch, it’s no surprise thatDisgaea 6is about to make the jump from Switch exclusive to multi-platform release with the newly announcedDisgaea 6 Complete, which brings together all of the Switch version’s DLC alongside the main game to PS4, PS5, and PC this summer.
Disgaeais a strategy RPG series created by Nippon Icchi Software(NIS) that first debuted on the PS2 in 2003 and has since gone on to become a successful JRPG franchise with multiple spin-off franchises, and is it positioned as the flagship franchise for publisher NIS.Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destinyfirst released on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 in Japan on June 16, 2025. The game follows a zombie named Zed on a quest to defeat the god of destruction and introduced 3D visuals to the series for the first time in its 13-year history.

Despite releasing on both PS4 and Switch in Japan, only the Nintendo Switch version made its way to western territories when the English release of the game arrived in June 2021. This came as a surprise aftermany major entries had come to PlayStation consoles in the pastincludingDisgaea 5, which was a PS4 exclusive for two years before its eventual Switch release.
It seems the game’s timed exclusivity in the west was a conscious effort from NIS America, however, as now it has announced thatDisgaea 6 Completewill launch on PlayStation consoles in summer 2022. This new version will include all of the cosmetic and character DLC in the past,including the ability to play as characters from past entries in the series.
While the PS5 version has been dated for June 16 in Japan, the English language versions all retain a vague “summer 2022” release window. Despite this,NIS America has also revealed a collector’s editionof the new version ofDisgaea 6for PS4 and PS5 which retails for $109.99 and includes the deluxe edition of the game, a hardcover art book, a steelbook case, a two-disc CD soundtrack, four art cards, and a collector’s box. This collector’s edition is available now from NIS America’s online store.
Disgaea 6 Completewill release on PC, PS4, and PS5 in summer 2022. The original version is currently available on Nintendo Switch.
