The launch ofDiablo Immortaland the subsequent month has been a rough time for Blizzard, thanks largely to the game’s focus on microtransactions and stories of players spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on Legendary Crest packs. Despite the player blowback,Blizzardis pushing forward with its first big update to lead into Season 2. The update also brings a new raid boss for players to cross blades with alongside plenty of bug fixes and balance changes.

Diablo Immortalis the latest in Blizzard’s long-running series set in the world of Sanctuary, where angels and demons find themselves in regular conflict with humanity stuck in the middle. The game takes place betweenDiablo 2andDiablo 3, with players tasked by Deckard Cain to gather the shards of the Worldstone to prevent disaster from befalling Sanctuary. Standing between players and the Worldstone is Skarn, a demon who previously served as a lieutenant for the titular villain Diablo and the mastermind behind the coming disaster.

Blizzard went in-depth on the first major update in a post on the studio’s official website, giving players a chance to prepare for the changes coming and new content to play. As mentioned, one of the biggest content additions on the way will be the new raid boss -Vitaath The Shivering Death. Vitaath is said to have emerged “from the icy depths of the Frozen Tundra,” stalking those foolish enough to venture out to the frozen wilds of northern Sanctuary. Players can visit Rayek’s Helliquary in Westmarch with their raiding party when they feel ready to take on this dangerous new demon.

As for the bug fixes, the update appears to be fixing plenty of bugs across gameplay, modes, and the overall interface. The list of general gameplay fixes is the biggest, which may not be surprising to players as these are usually general fixes in similar games. Some of the listed fixes include resolving a bug the kept players from using their primary attack after being interrupted by an enemy, removing paragon level requirements for some activities, class abilities' audio not playing, and fixed interactions with some of theWarband Stash’s equipment.

Other fixes were made to the game’s user interface, visuals, NPC interactions, and theBattlegroundand Cycle of Strife activities. Cycle of Strife, in particular, suffered from one of the worst bugs where Shadow Contracts were failing immediately after players would enter quest zones. In addition, those suffering from server issues on the game’s user agreement will also be happy to hear this should no longer be an issue.

Diablo Immortalis currently available on Android, iOS, and PC.
