Destiny 2is in a great state, with the release of The Witch Queen expansion providing players with a middle ground between high-end content and casual play through its Legendary campaign. The expansion also introduced Bungie’s new vision for Light subclasses, which are being reworked one element per-Season in order to make them more akin to the Stasis system of Aspects and Fragments. The Void 3.0 update was shipped alongsideSeason of the Risen, and there were many changes to previous iterations of the subclasses, making Void builds very popular across all game modes.

Because Bungie has been pushing toward the goal of having many options for builds inDestiny 2, featuring plenty of interestingcombinations with the Void 3.0 updatemakes the subclasses feel great and fun to use. It also helps that the new seasonal mod pool features stuff like Suppressing Glaive, Devouring Depths, and Volatile Flow, all of which enhance gameplay for Void classes. If the rework for Arc subclasses is going to be anything like Void 3.0, it’s not impossible that the Divinity Exotic trace rifle will become a great DPS option instead of a DPS enabler for Raids.

How Destiny 2’s Divinity Could Become a DPS Pick With Arc 3.0

Divinity is the Raid-exclusive Exotic weapon from Garden of Salvation, and it has been a very popular pick in endgame activities forDestiny 2players, especially against Raid bosses. The reason why most endgame fireteams have a dedicated Divinity user is that the gun debuffs any target it hits for a 30 percent global increase in damage, making it on-par (if not stronger) than most Weaken effects. Furthermore, constantly firing Divinity for a short time creates a sphere around the target, granting precision damage to all allied players shooting the enemy.

As such, Divinity is incredibly strong for all Raid DPS phases because of its insane debuff and the fact that it makes precision shots easier to land. However, Divinity is known for not dealing a lot of damage on its own, and someDestiny 2fans have been tinkering with the gun over the years in order to find optimal setups for better DPS output. An example comes fromStasis Hunters with Mask of Bakris, which increases all Arc damage dealt with guns after dodging.

However, theArc 3.0 reworkcould be similar to what Void 3.0 currently offers, and it is likely to ship with plenty of different Arc-related seasonal mods. If this proves to be the case, Divinity could become a good DPS weapon in Raids, especially if paired with mods like Font of Might, which increases the damage of weapons with an element that matches the user’s subclass - in this case, that would have to be Arc. One of the biggest issues with Divinity DPS is that it consumes a lot of ammo quickly, though, which is only partially averted by using double Trace Rifle Reserves mods.

Still, it’s worth noting that Divinity is currently missing a catalyst, which could make the gun work wonders for DPS purposes if it came with a perk that either regenerates ammo or reduces rate of fire by increasing damage. Something similar to the latter already exists inDestiny 2for Adagio, but it does require a kill to activate, which is not always feasible in DPS phases. Still, there are many ways in which Divinity can become even better than it already is with the Arc 3.0 update, ways that would potentially reshape the meta for Raids and other high-end activities like GM Nightfalls.

Destiny 2is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
