Over the course of the mode’s history inDestiny 2, Trials of Osiris has seen its fair share of ups and downs. Up until recently, Trials of Osiris was avoided by a large population of theDestiny 2PvP community, due in large part to the imbalance between a few weapons and theStasis subclasses. This weekend, however, Destiny 2 is poised to see a big turnout for Trials of Osiris.
Much like last week brought players in to try and get therevamped Messenger pulse rifle, this week has another enticing reward. However, the only way to get this one is to win, and win a lot.

The Flawless reward for Trials of Osiris inDestiny 2this week is the Igneous Hammer, a legendary hand cannon. Moreover, earning Igneous Hammer as a Flawless reward turns it into the Adept version, which can slot inAdept mods(more potent versions of existing mods).
As a result, a lot ofDestiny 2players are putting their skills to the test in the hopes of going flawless in Trials of Osiris. Even when a lot of the community feels that PvP can be improved, many are willing to brave the Stasis subclasses, theFelwinter’s Lie shotguns, and the emote “three-peeking” in order to try to get this new weapon for Season of the Chosen.
Why is the Igneous Hammer So Good?
There are a couple of different reasons thatDestiny 2players are chasing the Igneous Hammer this week, beyond the fact that it is an Adept weapon. As a 120 RPM hand cannon, the Igneous Hammer is in a class of weapon that is extremely popular inDestiny 2right now. Weapons like True Prophecy and The Steady Hand rank towards the top when it comes to PvP primary weapons, especially where Trials of Osiris is concerned.
However, both True Prophecy and The Steady Hand are kinetic primary hand cannons, so they occupy a similar space. Igneous Hammer is energy so it can be paired with some different choices, like the Astral Horizon shotgun. Next season, the popular Felwinter’s Lie will be sunset and will no longer be able to infuse its power level up to the current cap. For basic Crucible that’s a non-issue, but where Trials of Osiris andIron Bannerare concerned, some new choices will need to enter the fold.
Ultimately, the popularity of Igneous Hammer extends beyond just preparing for the future. It’s a new weapon, for starters, and it can roll with some solid perks like One for All and Rampage.
Last week, the goal seemed to be just to get The Messenger by any means necessary, but this week the goal is to win. And with that in mind, there are bound to be more Trials of Osiris cards run than towards the end of last season.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
