In a recent interview with PC Gamer,Destiny 2design lead Rodney Thompson revealed Bungie is nerfing resilience damage reduction in the newLightfallexpansion. Tier 10 resilience will provide 30% in damage reduction inLightfallinstead of the current 40% damage reduction in the live sandbox. According to Thompson, the “progression has been made smoother,” soDestiny 2players at a lower resilience tier will get more value without having to reach the max tier. If desired, players may instead focus on mobility and recovery tiers while maintaining a decent level of resilience in all content.

Since resilience damage reduction has been nerfed, the cost of certain armor mods has been reduced. All non-stat modifying mods will cost between one and three energy to equip on any gear piece. Further, Bungie confirms a general reduction of all average armor mod costs will be in effect inDestiny 2: Lightfall. A greater variety ofmod loadouts inDestiny 2: Lightfallmay compensate for overall reduced resilience.

In the current state ofDestiny 2, Guardians are at their strongest yet with a large variety of mods, powerful subclass abilities, and 40% damage reduction at max resilience. Additionally, various abilities like Radiant and Volatile Rounds are useful when soloing dungeons or teaming up with others in raids. Although overall damage reduction is being nerfed,Destiny 2players may discover useful Strand abilitiesthat will make up for less resilience inLightfall. However, player reception around the damage reduction change remains to be seen in the live game.

Players may prepare forLightfallby participating inDestiny 2’sSeason of the Seraphand restoring Rasputin. The Vanguard and its allies will need the extra help when the Witness' forces invade Neptune and threaten to bring a second Collapse upon all living things in the solar system.

Destiny 2is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. TheLightfallexpansion launches on February 28 across all platforms.
