This guide explains how to sword skate with Half-Truths and The Other Half in general, and how to make the most of it on all ofDestiny 2’s classes.
How to Sword Skate
In orderto sword skateDestiny 2players need a sword with the Eager Edge perkon it, which at the moment only rolls on the 30th Anniversary Pack’s Half-Truths and The Other Half. Once players have such a sword, all they need to do to sword skate is to sprint forward, jump, swap weapons to the sword, and press the light or heavy attack button depending on how much momentum they want to gain. Light attacks offer less momentum but cost less ammo as well, but heavy attacks are better for longer distances and for prolonged skating.

How to Sword Skate on Warlocks
The easiest way to sword skate on Warlocks is ifDestiny 2players pick top tree Dawnblade as their subclass, which is great to use in this case because of itsIcarus Dashability.Icarus Dashprovides Warlocks with the ability to flash forward while mid-air, which perfectly fits the rotation needed to sword skate for longer distances and spend less ammo. This is achieved by sword skating as normal, which means sprinting forward, jumping, swapping weapons to the Eager Edge sword, and pressing the light or heavy attack button.
In addition to that, players have to keep their jump going after gaining momentum, and then use theirIcarus Dashto retain it. Then, they can land on the ground while gliding and repeat the process in order not to lose their momentum or regain it after stopping for a few seconds. Forcontroller players, it might be useful to bind theIcarus Dashto a single press, meaning that it’s easier to use and can be turned into a mid-air combo more easily.
How to Sword Skate on Hunters
Destiny 2Hunterscan get the most momentum in the game while sword skating at the moment, and that’s achieved by using Stasis and theShatterdiveaspect to create a technique that’s arguably harder to master. Normally,Shatterdivemakes Hunters rapidly fall to the ground while mid-air, shattering Stasis crystals and frozen enemies around the players. In this case, the aim is toShatterdiveand jump at the same time and swap to the Eager Edge sword to perform a heavy attack.
Sword skating withShatterdiveprovides insane momentum that can easily get players killed when colliding with hard objects, though, so it’s safer to practice in a wide area. Again, for controller players, it might be useful to bind the Air Dive Ability button to a single press, meaning thatShatterdiveis more responsive and it allows for a quick combo.
How to Sword Skate on Titans
Sword skating for Titans is probably the one with the least momentum, but with the most reliability. This is due to the fact that Titans can sword skate by using theLion RampantExotic legs combined with Catapult Lift to make for a steady skate that can last for a very long time.Lion Rampantprovide increased aerial maneuverability toDestiny 2Titans, which makes it a great Exotic to use when alternating slight jumps and sword attacks so as to not consume the entire boost provided by Catapult Lift in one go.
This skating technique is achieved by sprinting and then jumping, quickly swapping weapons to the sword, and heavy attacking for the extra momentum through Eager Edge. After the momentum ends, players should jump and light attack with their sword, rinsing and repeating for however long they like. Unlike other sword skating methods inDestiny 2, like the Hunter’s and the Warlock’s, the Titan’s doesn’t require players to swap weapons back to something other than the sword after the initial thrust.
