Summary

Destiny 2’s The Final Shape introduced three new Supers divided between the existing classes and then added Prismatic subclasses on top of that, dramatically reshaping buildcrafting and what kind of kits players bring in endgame content, be it PvE or PvP. For example,Destiny 2’s Prismatic Hunter is problematic in PvP specifically due to the new Storm’s Edge Super, whereas Prismatic Titans' overall kit is a bit lacking. WithBungie wanting to buffDestiny 2’s Titansand stating it wants to keep on adding to Prismatic, there’s a solid way to do so based on the current Episodes and their schedule.

While little is known about what each Episode entails, to the point that Bungie is holding a live stream on July 9 to address what’s coming in Act 2 for Echoes, the overall premise is that each Episode will revolve around the mysterious objects that were ejected by The Traveler when The Witness was defeated. These anomalies will likely bring new life to existing locations and enemy factions as the first is doing with the Vex and Nessus. As such,Destiny 2’s next Episodes could use these Traveler-originated anomalies to infuse Guardians with new powers and tools to use for Prismatic subclasses.

Destiny 2 Would Be Sitting on a Gold Mine By Not Adding Prismatic Abilities in New Episodes

Destiny 2’s Prismatic Subclasses Need More Variety and Balance

Destiny 2’s Prismatic subclasses can be a powerhouse in endgame content across the board due to hybrid Light and Darkness kits that eventually allow Guardians to go Transcendent - a new ability exclusive to Prismatic. When Transcendent,Destiny 2playersgain a 5% bonus to weapon damage, and their existing grenade is transformed into a new one based on whether the Guardian is a Hunter, Titan, or Warlock. Not only this, but using melee abilities recharges the grenade faster while Transcendent and vice versa. These grenades are:

If Bungie wants to add toPrismatic subclasses inDestiny 2, then adding more grenade options for Transcendence could be the way to go, considering each of them is powerful, but only in certain circumstances. For example, the Hunter’s Hailfire Spike is great for single-target damage, but it doesn’t excel at add-clearing, which is the opposite situation of the Titan’s Electrified Snare.

New Transcendence grenades in each Episode could fill the missing niches for each class or combine different elements, if not both, which would open up even more options for buildcrafting. Similarly, the anomalies from Episodes 2 and 3 could also grant Guardians newPrismatic Fragments inDestiny 2, bringing a few more tools from each of the Light and Darkness subclasses' kits. Finally, the same could happen for new Aspects, bringing more options to the table from the existing selection.

The sky is the limit if Bungie wants to use anomalies toadd to Prismatic in Destiny 2, and each Episode would immediately feel fresh and interesting with such changes. Additionally, it only makes sense from a lore perspective to gain new powers from the anomalies.

Why Using Episodes to Add New Prismatic Abilities is a Good Idea For Destiny 2

Still, it remains a mystery what Bungie intends to do with the remaining Episodes. Echoes caused someEpisode controversies inDestiny 2already due to time-gating content like weapons and activities first, and now also rewards from the Season Pass. Adding new Prismatic tools with each Episode would build good faith within the community and it would add a lot of new exciting possibilities for gameplay growth.
