In advance of the typical weekend activity, Bungie confirms that Trials of Osiris is going on hiatus for a second straight weekend due to the arrival of a newDestiny 2Crucible playlist. After promising major changes to come to the Crucible activity early in the year, theDestiny 2PvP Strike Team has made good on that, as multiple updates have arrived in the months and weeks since the announcement. New game modes have been developed, changes to certain mechanics like special ammo have arrived, and the team have even made end game activities like Trials of Osiris more rewarding to try and entice players to check the mode out.
However, the biggest change to the Crucible arrived at thisweek’sDestiny 2reset, when Bungie launched three new maps. Cirrus Plaza, Eventide Labs, and Dissonance give players new locations to battle it out on, including a terraformed Pyramid ship. To help players find the new maps easier, Bungie introduced a new 3v3 playlist intoDestiny 2called New Territory, and for anyone who plays a match before the end of Season of the Wish, they’ll earn a new Slaycation emblem. However, as an unforeseen consequence of this new playlist, Trials of Osiris fans are going to be missing out on the second weekend of the activity.
The news was broken on the official Destiny 2 Team Twitter account, revealing that with the release of theNew Territory map pack for the Crucible, Trials of Osiris won’t be active this weekend. This marks the second consecutive weekend that the activity will be missing out as Iron Banner was active the previous week. The reason for this sudden change is that Bungie wants to give players more opportunities to play on the new maps and earn the emblem going into the first weekend of it being active, so the New Territory playlist will hold the 3v3 Event Node inside the Crucible director.
Fan Reaction to Destiny 2 Trials of Osiris News Isn’t Positive
Reaction to the announcement was met with plenty of disappointment and frustration from fans as well as numerous high-profileDestiny 2streamers and influencers, with many indicating that this was the wrong decision. There were also no shortage of players offering suggestions to releaseTrials of Osiris with each of the new maps on rotationsince they were designed to be 3v3 focused anyway. Bungie responded to fans by confirming the return of Trials of Osiris next weekend and that it would feature one of the three new maps each week, starting with Eventide Labs.
While the news left most in the community disappointed, Bungie has recently been tweaking other elements ofDestiny 2that have been seen in a more positive light. Just this week, Bungie announced that from now until the end of the current season,Destiny 2players can now easily earn Deepsight Weapons. For those missing certain weapon patterns from Season 20-23, playing specific activities like Defiant Battlegrounds, Salvage, Savathun’s Spire, Riven’s Lair, and others, would reward a deepsight weapon pattern upon completion. Better yet, these can be earned once per day from each activity, giving players an easy path to completing new crafting patterns.
